Charles has chided me recently for my comments about the poor so I should say that I am aware that there many reasons why people are poor. 1. There are the intelligent poor, these may include students and others who have chosen poverty over chasing the dollar. 2. Also those who have been short changed in their minds or opportunities. 3. Those who have been made poor because of natural disasters, wars, bad luck and an unfair economic system. Within those three we have about one third of the population.
On the other hand there are now several millionaires in the CoG and at least one billionair that we know of so when I speak of the poor I am just trying to acknowledge people where they are and yet like John wish above all things that everyone should prosper and be in good health.

Jesus said that the poor will always be with us. It is cyclic and the system is impersonal, lacking sympathy.

The system is without compassion but Jesus told the rich man to sell what he had and give to the poor, He also said to give the poor food and drink and that we would be rewarded many times over.
