Under Hebrew culture a woman would be in an arrangement for marriage. Her father would have made a contractual agreement with another father who wanted his son to marry his daughter. They would negotiate, arrange and plan a wedding. Perhaps the son had never seen the face of the daughter.

The night of the wedding would be so important to her and her mother as they made all the preparations. Central to that would be her attire and her wedding night dress. The fathers would want children from this arrangement.

She would have the job of making herself alluring, sexually to her new husband. She had seen him on many occasions but had never spoken to him, socially and he had never seen her face. They were strangers in the night.

This would be the night of all nights and this night could determine the rest of the marriage. He would be introduced to his new wife and she would be beautiful, sexually alluring, charming and ready for a night of passion.

This marriage is foreign to the the western world under the influence of rules of courtship in medieval Europe. There is romance in the relationships and approval of both partners who decide for themselves who and when to marry. This become a great departure from Biblical marriage and the Hebrew concept of contractual covenants.

This departure from the Hebrew concept has a massive effect on religious and theological foundations. There is an ongoing process of protestation since this time and it is as going from a dark age to a new age of enlightenment. It is the days we live in and soon we will enter a new era of post enlightenment though many think we are already in a post modern world. I don’t believe we have yet seen decadence. We are entering a new age of barbarism and lawlessness.

Where is the Church of God in this? When I look at the wife of the General Overseer I think she is making herself attractive, sexually! Ouch! I will get feedback for that!

Does her husband tell her to dress sexually alluring for Church events. I am certain he hasn’t. If he is a good COG bishop he harbors secret thoughts against the way she dresses. At least I HOPE so. She dresses like the world dictates and we are well acquainted with that provocative dictation.

No one preaches against this anymore. We are told to come out of the world not to copy the world! Why have women in the COG started dressing in the GO wife’s fashion because the GO and the bishops of the church have stopped preaching this.

When the GO starts preaching this under a Holy Spirit anointing you will see a different wife. That change has to come! It starts at the top and trickles down.

Tell the member to mail a request to the pastor by registered mail and then notify the S O about this

Tell them to keep attending and if there is abusive treatment verbal or physical call the police

  2. The member can’t Charles.
Only the leadership of the body can call for the police and have a person removed.

The action at that moment that can legally be taken by the member is to leave (walk out).

The Church is legally considered a private organization and can govern itself. They have the right and say so in what they do, who they allow, etc,.
Now if the body is not run by the minutes and bylaws then they can do something legally – later (but not at the time of offense during service/meetings).

And, it is not just members that can get this financial information, but anyone donating and giving to the church is legally entitled to it.

    So Charles
Are you advocating for prearranged marriages inorder to get back to the “letter” of the New Testament and it’s customs, not just the principles?

Then are you ruling out marriages based on mutual love?

  4. Charles Page says:

no but I do advocate to a prearranged salvation based on a a unilateral covenant.

  5. Agree, provided you mean God drawing us as we use our freewill inorder to accept it on an individual and personal level as He designed it.

  6. Charles Page says:

no, I believe in irresistible grace. The only drawing is the drawing of the regenerate to follow Christ in obedience.

  7. Irresistible grace.
Sad, that leaves you out of many scriptures.

The word comes to us and the interpretation goes forth from us

  9. And the Word is verified with, over, and through time.

  10. Charles Page says:

Word is infallible and interpretations are fallible and have to withstand the test of time

  11. Lol, yawn
Understanding the test of time is exactly why I dismiss 70AD teaching and thinking.
Just like the JW with 1914 return and 1925.
    Yawn,.

Hmmm….do you find short hair sexually alluring?

I read an opinion on the internet about men’s thoughts on women’s hair. It went like this, “There are three important things to know about men’s preference for women’s hair.
    1. Men like long hair.
    2. Men like long hair.
    3. Men like long hair.

  13. Link Hudson says:

Rebecca wore a veil when she knew Isaac was approaching. Beyond that, is there any reason to think men did not know their wives before they married them? If most Israelites lived in small towns with agricultural fields around them and married their neighbors, a man may well have known who his wife would be.

The Bible also shows examples of men going out and getting their own wives. Saul sent go-betweens to talk to David, not Jesse, about David marrying his daughter. Samson saw a girl he liked and asked his parents to get her for him. On the man’s side of things, whether he found a wife for himself or his parents did may have depended to some degree on his age.
