Wouldn’t you want praise if you created the world and everything in it? He is worthy of praise.
What else can we give that has any value to Him?

How dare you judge the Lord. He demands our worship and the resultant worship and devotion through Christ Grant’s us everlasting life..
No. He’s worthy of praise more then we can come close to comprehending. I’d wager the happiest beings in existence are the ones In his presence praising him. So praising him is him offering us the ultimate joy and pleasure. I hope I get there.
God is Sovereign and worthy of all praise and honour. He is our creator, our mighty saviour, our loving father. Praising God brings me joy in my heart. I listened to a good sermon from John MacArthur on you tube last night, I recommend it. The title of the sermon is The Kind of Worship God Desires (Part 1)
Roy A. Sims I used to wonder this sometimes myself, but God has given me perspective on this issue in recent years.
In my life, I depend on nobody, but I have a few people who depend on me. There is nothing they can do for me, nothing they can do for me or make for me to help me.
What do I require of them? Nothing. What do I appreciate from them?
1. Obedience – they “help” me by doing as I ask them to, as I know better and I am pleased when they do as I tell them to because it means everything goes well. It makes things go better between me and them, and between they and others.
2. Gratitude – I love to feel that I am appreciated for all that I do for them, and though I would do it anyway, it makes me feel my sacrifices are “worth it”. I guess genuine “praise” flows from the same well as gratitude.

PRAISE is our natural response once we realize who we are and what God has done for us in our salvation
God is the the objective standard of all good. Anything God asks of us is because he wants that goodness for us. God doesn’t need anything from you, he’s God. He asks and hopes that you use your free will to praise Him because its what’s best for you.

This will cause division in the church, strife and this does not advance the Kingdom of God by far. In this group we have other religions and unbelievers who come to test us. We must be ready to defend our faith at all times. This post was a distraction. You know the answer to this, if you don’t you have no business being in ministry. You have cause the church to defend the very same faith you claim, that is not Spirit led. That’s time and energy you and everyone else on here could’ve spent glorifying God by defending our faith to someone who may be truly seeking the true God. If the sun was a conscious entity, would it be narcissistic to expect people who stand before it to burn? Clearly not. The burning is a natural effect of the heat it produces.
Praise is the natural desire, of the non-narcissistic mind, before a perfectly glorious God.
If someone isn’t desiring to praise God, there is something wrong with the person and not the object of praise.
No, for two reasons, 1. He desires that which He is worthy of, a narcissist desires what they are not worthy of.
2. Praising Him is what we were created to do.
Would you be upset if you got 100% of all the questions right on an exam but the prof only gave you 51%? Would you be upset if you followed all the rules your driving instructor gives you and she still fails you? Would you be upset if your spouse promises to be faithful on your marriage day and the sleeps around with whoever she wants? Wouldn’t the Creator of the universe have more right to be upset when we walk away from Him? He’s not a narcissist just grieved that we don’t respect Him as He deserves.
You actually ask two questions when you ask if God desires/requires our praise. God requires nothing. He is perfection and His triune nature means He had a perfect, loving relationship before the Fall without any creatures. But it is that loving nature that I think Genesis 1 references when God says He will make humanity in His image – not because He needs our love but because His love is so wonderful, He wants to share it.
God doesn’t require our praise. But when we understand His goodness, His character and His great love for us, we can’t help but join with all creation to praise Him. He delights in our steps and desires for us to do what we’re made for – to enjoy Him.
Just like a boat is made for the water and the wing made for flight, we are made to worship our Creator. We simply cannot escape His reality. This is why when we meet Him, we will know that He is worthy of all our praise and so much more and as Paul says,
“Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Phil 2:9-11
God is supreme in his actuality. God does not improve nor diminishes in any way. He is immutable and perfect in every way. Thrice Holy. There is no one or nothing like Him. He is the source of all that is good. Deviating from him is evil and madness. He is worthy to be praised!
It’s for our good not his. Like a child is taught to be grateful for it’s toys and food and clothing, it is for it’s own good not to placate a parent’s ego. A patent does not need it’s ego stroked, but a child needs to learn to have a thankful attitude.
Narcis dont deserve praises. The One who allowed us to wake up this morning does. Oh He is worthy to be praised, even if I die now.

Praise is recognition, appreciation. It is for Us, not for Him and it is like in any Healthy relationship. Except we can add nothing to God. Pretty reasonable exchange all things considered.

We stood no chance to ever getting into heaven as sinful humans. Just by being born, your sinful rebellious flesh condemned to an eternity in hell…. pure agony, torment, and hopelessness.
God however out an abundance of love for us, took the lesser form of man, just to die on our behalf so we could be made worthy of heaven, because we couldn’t achieve salvation on our own works and merit over an infinite amount of life times.
Every person is offered a free gift of grace and all you have to do is accept it. The question i pose to you is WHY WOULDN’T you feel compelled to worship God for that!

God cannot lie about who He is. If He were to say “I’m not the most magnificent Being that exists,” or, “it is not necessary for you to praise Me,” He would be lying. Because He is telling the truth, He can rightly say “I alone am worthy of all praise,” Those same words, if they came from a mere human being, would be a lie and narcissistic. Coming from God, they are simply the truth.

It is mandatory that creatures praise their creator by the mere fact of being the creator and how much more so when that creator is also their redeemer – the requirement is not to meet a lack in God by His creation, but an expression of the reality of God as supreme over all His creation – God commands praise as the only right response to His existence, which benefits those who praise Him.
I never saw where God required praise. Praise is voluntary. I don’t believe it can be forced. Genuine heartfelt praise and thanksgiving can only come from a heart that appreciates God for who and what he is.

We worship something no matter what – God, gods, self, things, pleasure, etc. It’s just the way we are.
God is the greatest thing in all of Creation. So only He should be worshipped. Worshipping anything else leaves us lacking. So it’s loving to tell us to worship Him. It’s for OUR good. He wouldn’t be just nor loving if He told us to worship anything else.

Have you ever seen or eaten or participated in something so great that you cannot stop talking about it, telling others how good it is? Have you ever wanted to praise someone for what they have done for you, like a massive gift when you were about to lose your home, not enough money for food, or something big?
Did you not want to continually thank and praise that person for what he or she or they did for you?
Then why would it be so hard to imagine the creator of the universe being fully manifest in front of you and you want to never-ending praise him for saving you, creating you, etc…?

Yes, God demands that we love Him. Jesus indicated that the greatest and most important of all the commandments is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your strength, all your soul and all your mind” (Matt 22:37), which is a quote from Deuteronomy 6:5. God does not merely ask us to love Him; He commands it. Those who refuse to love Him will one day be banished into the fires of Hell.
Can you already see the objection forming on the lips of sceptics? Can you sense their outrage rising? In case you can’t, their objection goes something like this: “What kind of despotic, narcissistic God creates us and demands that we love Him, then tortures those who refuse? What sort of insecurity must He have that He cannot tolerate people not loving him?” At a less colloquial level, the essence of this objection is that God needs our love in order to be fulfilled or whole; that without our love He is somehow deficient or incomplete.
The argument continues that if this is so, then surely it contradicts the very definition of God; for God, by definition, must be self-sufficient. Objections by sceptics go further still. If, as Christians claim, the universe was created by God to display His glory, is this not also egotism on a grand scale? And does it not also indicate a deficiency within God – that He needed to create the universe in order to achieve a sense of completeness?
These are profound questions, that go to very heart of the nature of God and the origin of the universe. THE ASEITY OF GOD Aseity is a theological term that refers to the self-existence and self-sufficiency of God. However else we might interpret God’s command that we love Him, it cannot contradict either the self-existence or self-sufficiency of God. But firstly, let us be clear regarding the meaning of these concepts. God is the only “thing” in the universe that is self-existent. He exists from within Himself; He is self-generating. Everything else in the universe is dependent and derived. Humans, for example, are not self-existent.
But God is not like anything else in the universe. He is self-existent. He is uncaused. He exists necessarily. His existence does not require or depend upon anything or anyone else. He simply is. The triune God is the only being who has life within Himself; “For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself.” (John 5:26). If there was no universe, no matter, no gravity, no anything, God would still exist. In fact, He did exist like this for eternity past, before the creation of the world.
Not only is God self-existent, He is also self-sufficient. This means that there is nothing lacking within Him that needs anything or anyone else in order to be complete or made whole. In particular, human love and praise is not necessary for God. We are not necessary for His wholeness or completeness. In fact, God does not need anything, other than Himself:
“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.25 And He is not served by human hands, as if He needed anything. Rather, He himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else….” (Acts 17:24-28)
Verse 25 (above) could not be clearer: God does not need anything. He does not need our praise. He does not need our love. He is not deficient in self-worth, thereby requiring re-affirmation, nor does He have a rampant ego requiring constant praise. He did not create us because He was lonely, nor did He create the universe because He was bored. He is completely and perfectly self-contained and self-sufficient.
This self-sufficiency is intrinsically tied to His triune nature. The transcendent Creator is ONE God, but He is not a singularity as humans are singularities. The consubstantial Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit – one substance but three entities – enjoyed perfect love, harmony and fellowship within Himself for eternity past. Jesus spoke of this during His earthly existence when He said, “And now, Father, glorify me in Your presence with the glory I had with You before the world began” (John 17:5). Later in that same chapter Jesus refers to “Your love for me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17:24). Mere human minds cannot conceptualise this eternal self-sufficiency within the Trinity; a perpetual state of internal love, harmony and joy that was and is so perfect that nothing could possibly add to it or diminish it. This is what is meant by God’s eternal self-sufficiency; and this is why any suggestion that God needs the love of weak, insignificant human beings is laughable. Hence, the Psalmist declares; “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” (Psalm 8:4). This does not infer that God does not love us (for He surely does), but that He does not need us. The aseity of God is such that He is in need of nothing.

THE REASON FOR CREATION Why then did God create the universe? If He was already perfectly self-sufficient, why did He bother to create anything at all? John Piper explains; “In creation, God ‘went public’ with the glory that reverberates joyfully between the Father and the Son. There is something about the fullness of God’s joy that inclines it to overflow. There is an expansive quality to His joy. It wants to share itself. The impulse to create the world was not from weakness, as though God were lacking in some perfection that creation could supply.”1
A fountain overflows not because it has a need to do so, but simply because that is its nature. Or, as Jonathon Edwards famously stated, “Tis no argument of the emptiness or deficiency of a fountain that it is inclined to overflow.”2 God’s nature is to create and to love. It does not flow out of a need or a deficiency within Him, but from an overflow of His already perfect self-sufficiency. The physical universe was created by God to display His greatness and glory to mankind; “The heavens declare the glory of God, the stars proclaim the work of His hands.” (Psalm 19:1).
The universe, it its infinite greatness and mid-boggling beauty is God’s masterpiece that declares to mankind, “This is a glimpse of what I am like”. Mankind was also created for God’s glory. In Isaiah 43:6, the Lord states, “Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, everyone who is called by my Name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” Our ultimate purpose is to glorify God. Is giving thanks wrong?
It is not for His benefit, but ours. If we take credit for God’s blessings, than WE become arrogant and narcissistic. God cannot be added to or subtracted from, he can do nothing to make himself greater or lesser. His objective is to make himself known as he truly is, so that Man may make his own decision as educated as possible. Which is why taking the name of God and using it for One’s own devices is unforgivable. It does not blemish God, but it blemishes Man’s view of God.
How would you feel if you kids turned their backs on you and wanted nothing to do with you? Compound that by your kids desiring a relationship with their friends’ parents instead of you but you have inside information that those other parents have a plan to destroy your children. Compound that even further when your kids give all of their attention to themselves or imaginary friends they have made up. Look, God created the universe and all that is in it including us. Should He not have our attention and adoration in a spirit of gratitude and humility? To imply God is a narcissist is patently ridiculous.
