    Unfermented.

Otherwise Jesus caused people to get drunk.
    Alcohol is man made.

The man there said it tasted better.
    Grape juice tastes very good.

God says dont look upon wine when or sparkles.
He says that people that drink alcohol are not wise too .

It stings like a viper bite.

  7. Wisdom Demilade Ayodele says:

Whether or not it is fermented doesn’t matter. What does matter is that we do not make erroneous conclusions from God Word for bad indulgences.

  8. Joshua Stoley says:

there are some bad answers here motivated by anachronisms and eisegesis.

Meaning comes from grammar and context. First, οίνος means wine…the fermented pressings for grapes. There is not a word for “grape juice” in Koine Greek. The closest we come is οἶνος νέος, new wine, or the fresh pressed juice. But even this is understood to be in the early stages of fermentation, hence the warning to be care of it.

Linguistically, it makes no sense to command one to not get drunk on οίνος if it is unfermented because it would be impossible….it makes no sense to use the example of “new wine” in “old skins” if its unfermented, because the skins wouldn’t expand.

Bottom line, it was fermented, because that is what the word means, and what the use demands in the context of a wedding.

    Why does it matter

  10. Arthur Adam Haglund says:

    Fermented, OBVIOUSLY

The governor of the feast praised it. Normally the ‘good stuff’ is rolled out first, and once people ‘GOT DRUNK’, cheap wine was supplied
This feast, however, speaking of the Wine Jesus made, was called the ‘good stuff”

NO ONE ON THE PLANET can confuse juice and fermented wine!!!

BTW, in scripture, NEW WINE is juice, it is unfermented.
100% of the time, WINE is fermented, and called wine.

  11. Dale Peeples says:

Why why why why is this even a question what ever he made it was good . The point of this question is ………?

    Fermented end of discussion

  14. Ivan Johnson says:

Strong’s no. oinos (see below), gleukos (see below). properly “must”; sometimes rendered as “wine,” “new wine,” or “sweet wine.” It can represent juice at any stage in the fermentation process, and in some places it “represents rather wine made from the first drippings of the juice before the winepress was trodden.

  25. Nick Shara says:

“Every man at a wedding PARTY brings out his best non-alcoholic grape juice first. Then when everyone is drunk they switch to cheaper non-alcoholic grape juice, but you have saved the best non-alcoholic grape juice until now!”
    -John nothing.

“And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.”
    John 2:10
