Listen: If men do not write rules devised from scripture declaring and defining holiness there will be no holiness.
The Church of God is a prime example. Drop the rules for a “loving liberty without rules” and call that holiness and we now see what will happen; what has happened.
The Church of God is now humpty dumpty and you can’t put it back together again. No amount of prayer and fasting will restore the church to a holiness it used to know.
The only salvation for the COG is women letting their hair grow, stop caking on the makeup and eye shadow, cover your arms, cleavage and knees. Wear your dresses to you calves and ankles. Dress cheaper and moderately. That will be a start!
Men, insist your wife and daughters dress as becoming holiness and that your sons chose among holiness girls for mates.
Live by the scriptures; study it for a domesticate foundation for work, home and play.

Charles, now you know dang well holiness isn’t a matter of appearance, but behavior. A holy person is a person producing the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Clothing has nothing to do with it. But i agree with you in that if a person wants to be a member of a certain “church”, they should submit to the rules….or go elsewhere.
I’m not a COG member, but, I am a Christian. My question: does the COG doctrines require women to cover their hair when in the preaching service??? Where can I find the doctrines of the COG?

What women wore was not holiness. Holiness is how we treat each other, benevolent acts, fruit of the Spirit, the Beattitudes and sexual purity. You can have a holy bin and not have any of these true character qualities and not be Christlike.
ok, now post that the men need to stop lusting and committing adultery and the Overseers need to oversee and remove ministers from the pulpit that do these things. I agree that some of the women need to be more modest in their dress but maybe they think they need to look this way so their husbands dont have a wandering eye.
I wonder why you posts are almost always about women modesty and purity are for men and women. You may be having issues with lust if that be the case then you sir need to be sanctified.
I am 66 years old. I grew up in a strict COG. No makeup, jewelry, long hair, very modest dress. My Mom never wore pants or shorts, jewelry (not even a wedding band), I do not remember anything being said about how men should behave other than to rule over their wife. During my growing up years, two “pastors” at the church were caught in affairs. The wife of one caught her husband in the act in their home while she was dressed modest and being the good holy wife. These “pastors” were removed from preaching for ONE YEAR AND THEN ALLOWED TO RETURN TO TEACH ME HOW I SHOULD BEHAVE. No thank you.
What about the men? Walking around with cracks showing; shirts undone; tongues so long they reach from back door to front door. Holiness is a state of the mind. Action Word. You can have your hair to the ground; sleeves to your finger tips but that does not make you a holy person. Look at the people moving into your neighborhood who dresses this way. Does this make them holy? I think NOT. Holiness is not what you wear on the outside but what is on the inside. Living a clean life . Holiness is how you walk, talk, act every aspect of your life. I have been a minister with the Church of God, Cleveland Tn for 32 years. The Church hasn’t changed the people have. Let them tell us how hard it is to find the right clothes for the different occasions in their life, while also trying to dress children, cook for and feed a family plus trying to keep a husband from buying a motorcycle or a fishing boat, coping with elderly parents and trying to keep peace in an extended family. We men haven’t done too well with our rules and regulations.

Let the men dress like men, cut their hair, wear their britches above their cracks. and put their shirt tails inside their pants and look like a man representing Jesus Christ. get those studs out of their lips,, eye brows. nose. tongues. ECT, and the women wear clothes that doesn’t make them look like hookers on harlot street dancing around like a chicken with it’s head cut off. thinking they are pleasing God. folks quite preaching the truth. that’s the reason us old timers have no place in the COG these days.
The Church hasn’t changed its the people & the COG leaders that has changed. I am one of the old timers too. But I still love the COG and what it stands for.
