Anybody know anything more on Melchizedek? He is only mention twice. Genesis and Hebrews. I’m paraphrasing but it says he was “High priest” and brought out bread and wine, blessed Abraham and Abraham tithed a 10th of everything he had.
I just find it interest this guy who is only mentioned twice could bless Abraham. And also I didn’t think a priesthood began back in that time?

He was a priest, a prophet and king at same time, hence we are not told much about him but in accordance with my study i suspect he was an Angel, unless if he was from other tribes which we are not told about in the Bible, for he was certainly not at same level as Abraham
no (3 times) Psalms 110:4.. Jesus had to be a (High) priest to forfill prophecy.. His priesthood.. He couldn’t be of Levi hence Mel.. who had no beginning (Book of Genesis) “birth record” Oooooooo.. that will keep u up at night?
CHRIST was the final priest in the order of Melchizedek.

the priesthood Melchezidek held is the priesthood that Christ held, and that He gave His apostles before His last ascension into heaven! Matt 10 :
1 “And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease” (see also John 15:16)
But after the death of the apostles, the priesthood, and along with it, the full doctrine of Christ was changed and lost for a time, just as it was prophesied would happen. 2 Tim 4
3 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears” (see also Amos 8:11-12, 2 Peter 2:1)
Also prophesied was an eventual need for a restoration.
Acts 3: 19-21
19 ¶ Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

JD Greear has an interesting sermon on this topic. Lot of importance with being the only king and priest foreshadowing Christ. That he wasn’t a Levite is important since priests were only from the tribe of Levi and Christ was from Judah and the tribe of the kings.

While in jew records, melchizedek is SHEM son of NOAH, Abraham is great great great great descendant of NOAH… The reasons of blessings is also transfer the priesthood to the descendant of Abraham.. From google hehehehehh)
His name translates to Righteous King. Many falsely claim he always an appearance of Christ… מַלְכִּי־צֶדֶֿק Talmud has fables about him, etc as they do everyone. This is not scripture! Claim he was born circumcised because he was spiritually advanced…that he was Noah seed Shem (though the math adds up and he could have been alive at the same time this is not true).
Paul’s reference that Melchizedek “had no beginning or end” was not pertaining to birth or death. It was in reference to in the light of scripture he had no birth/death.
Jesus would have to be incorrect for otherwise thought.
Now, to those that disagree with my take on Paul’s reference, Melchizedek would have to be considered one of the “sons of God”. However, this would be against the “no beginning” statement of Paul as the Sons of God were birthed. However, someone may reconcile better than me.
King of Salem means king of Jerusalem in later times.
There is a possibility that Melchizedek is actually Shem the son of Noah. Noah and Shem where still from the preflood time before man’s life was shortened. So they both lived well past the flood by several hundred years. Shem is in the lineage of Christ and the blessing Noah put on Shem was for the promised seed to go through him. So Shem would have have a good understanding of the practice and understanding of the sacrificial duties required of a high priest. Even Able knew what sacrifices was acceptable so during the preflood time there may not have been a levitical priesthood or a system like we are familiar with in place but there was some type of worship that was accepted by God. So Noah for sure would have known what was right, he even built an altar after the flood. So this would have passed to his children especially Shem. Likewise since he lived so long after the flood he eventually outlived his own children so to folks between the flood and the tower of Babel he would seem to be someone without a beginning and end since he was alive when they was born and still living when they died.
