We are told to help. We are our brother keeper. It is God who heals, we are to pray. His answer no, yes, in my time, keep on praying. Notice in Gethsemane he did NOT take the cup of suffering from Jesus. It is his will that is done, not ours.

Yes, but not as we see it done today like people claim. People are using charismatic charming to deceive people into believing a lot of these things are happening when they aren’t. Even prayer is powerful for healing.

Yes totally is for today as I had my broken back healed from prayer instantly after 10 years of complete pain.

It’s always God’s will that prevails. When we pray for the sick they sometimes healed but sometimes not. We are just to pray for them and leave the rest to God.

We are given authority over every infirmity for He said tthat when the Holy Spirit will come upon us we will heal the sick and deliver the captives of sin,,,,,through His name because HHe is the forgiveness of sin

We cannot command sin out of people since we are still subject to temptation (Romans 7), but we (many believe) are able to heal the sick. I’ve never actually done that, but it doesn’t mean it can’t be done just because I’ve never done it. I don’t have enough information to really offer a legitimate debate either way. JHMO.

Healing is definetely for today. I think my question would be, are we to command healing or ask God to heal? James 5:14 seems to suggest the latter, whilst Jesus appeared to model/apprentice to his disciples that it could be done authoritatively. I know I’ve found myself doing both at times ?

Yes and no. Here’s what I mean. Yes, we are given authority to heal in Luke 10, no doubt about it. However, several places in the Bible healing is associated with the forgiveness of sins. If a person has unrepented sin in their life I do not believe that God will allow that person to be healed because He wants the sin dealt with. Also, scripture teaches that we get what we ask for when it falls into line with God’s will for our lives, so if God is maturing someone’s faith through illness, here again, I do not believe that the command/petition for healing will trump God’s will. After all, Jesus begged to be released from God’s will, but had God obliged Him, mankind would not have been redeemed. We have no idea who God could be reaching through the illness that we face. That’s how I see it.

No. That was a fulfillment of the PROPHESIES given to Israel under the law. We are the Body of Christ church. Jesus personally sent Paul to be our apostle and to give us doctrine outside of Jewish law. We find it in Romans through Philemon. Israel was prophesy. We are the Mystery never before revealed, hidden in God from the beginning. Read Acts 15. Paul is our apostle.

It’s a prevalent teaching lately that Man has the power to COMMAND things to happen… like magic or something. They also think God wants to heal every ailment, and that we are responsible for unleashing God’s power to do so… like he’s on our leash. It’s heresy that’s related to the occultic New Age movement.
We’re supposed to ask God to heal IF it’s His will. He isn’t our puppet. It isn’t always His will to heal someone.

Apostles were given the power to heal and perform miracles as in line with the will of God. Who is to say we can’t perform miracles in accordance with God’s will?
Jesus did not eradicate all disease and stop natural disasters. He selected specific ones that would save people.
In modern day where people create an explanation for everything, I don’t think most miracles would sway anyone. If God appeared to someone they would check into a psych facility. If you cured a disease they’d claim it was an actor. If you caused lightning to strike it would be a random coincidence. They believe that God is less probable than a Big Bang and evolution adding info to DNA despite all scientific logic against it.
So do we have the power? I believe so IF it is the will of God. I don’t think people will see it as a miracle anymore though.
