Statement: Biden Administration Proclaims Transgender Day of Visibility on Easter Sunday 2024

Biden Administration Proclaims Transgender Day of Visibility on Easter Sunday 2024

On March 29, President Joe Biden issued the following proclamation:

“Now, therefore, I, Joseph R. Biden Jr., President of the United States Of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and The laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2024, as Transgender Day of Visibility.”

March 31, 2024 was Easter Sunday and marks one of the most solemn and immensely significant days for Christianity.  Easter celebrates and commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day following his Crucifixion.  It represents the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies and New Testament revelation of the salvation plan for all humanity.  The message for the world is that Jesus—the Son of God—came to earth, gave his life for the salvation of every person from sin, he was crucified, and raised from the dead, and—He is Risen, He is Alive!

This proclamation is a blatant assault on Christians and intentionally disregards the celebration of the core belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Currently, there are 145 US calendar days devoted to LGBTQ+ causes each year.  Yet, this proclamation by the Biden administration commands the attention of all America on Easter Sunday to honor transgenderism in opposition to the celebration of Easter.

Today, we live in an age seeking to redefine humanity where sexuality, gender roles, transgenderism, and marriage are fluid, divergent between a culture committed to radical individuality and the church committed to life under Holy Scripture directives.  As a Pentecostal evangelical denomination, the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee) states its unequivocal position that this proclamation is abhorrent, an affront to the meaning of Easter, and incongruent to the core Judeo-Christian values upon which the United States of America was founded.  George Washington said, “Now I will avow, that I then believe, and now believe, that those general Principles of Christianity, are as eternal and immutable, as the Existence and Attributes of God.”

This Statement has been delayed purposefully to guard the sacredness of the Easter message and celebration.  While the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee) seeks to share redemptive grace through Christ transforming individuals from sexual bondage and deception, it affirms its unequivocal position on issues of human sexuality, gender and transgenderism predicated upon commitment to the Word of God (Hebrews 4:12; Romans 1:16) and its doctrinal Declaration of Faith articles, practical commitments and resolutions.
