Why not instead of sending sinners to hell, God simply destroy their souls and existance after jugdament?

I am just wondering what others believe baptism by fire means. Does it mean that fire is immersed in water? Or does it mean that something is immersed in fire? Can we interpret that the word baptize could also just mean immersed not immersed in water?
