I hope you understand 

why 
I can’t look you in the eye. 
It isn’t because I’m ashamed. 
It isn’t because I’m tired. 
It’s because I’m blind. 
I can see alright, 
actually, 
if we’re talking about physical sight. But, 
I’m blind to your pain. 
I’m blind to your needs.
I’m blind to the compassion that lies dormant in my heart. 
I’m blind because it’s 
difficult 
to think of anyone else but me. 
But one day I’ll see.
