Church of God General Overseer Houston Rylan Morehead was born in Corinth, KY, on November 3, 1905. Elected to the office of General Overseer in 1956, he was only able to serve two years due to term limits that prohibited service on the Executive Committee for more than eight consecutive years. The General Assembly had initiated a series of term limits in 1944. Having previously served for two years as general secretary-treasurer and four years as assistant general overseer, his was the shortest tenure of any general overseer to that time.
