Did believers have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit as a separate event from the apostolic gifts bestowed on
1. the Jews at Pentecost?
2. the Gentiles in Cornelius’s house?
You Pentecostals and perhaps other charismatics, will probably say “yes”.
Don’t all believers have the Holy Spirit? Isn’t scriptural water baptism just a physical symbol of spiritual baptism?
By the way: I define “apostolic gifts” as those gifts like tongues and healing that were common among the apostles after Pentecost.
I wonder if Paul prophesized or spoke in tongues, but he did heal dysentry in Malta.
I tried many times to speak in tongues but couldn’t. I pray in plain language. There are different gifts of the Holy Spirit and we can earnestly ask the best gift, besides loving people. This is all practical, you don’t try to refute them. Forget about denomination, read the bible plainly and try practicing it, the fastings, healings etc.
