Does God also rest on the sabbath?

Really I don’t think God rest I think that was just a figure of speech since when does an omnipotent being rest???

Well read the creation account in Genesis one and two, yes after God completed His creation on the seventh day He rested

Well he set that example for us after creation, but I don’t think humans while on earth and maybe even once in heaven will ever know what God is doing haha. But I’ve never thought about this question before

On the seventh day, he dwelled on the heavenly thrown to rule over creation as it’s god and to see to it that what happened, what happens and what will happen goes as was planned by God before creation. Each period of time mentions “There was evening and morning, the ___th day,” …except the last “day.” We are still in that last seventh day of creation.

He did during Creation to set us an example, but he now exists outside of time so there are no days/weeks etc.

Lol, no. But we should celebrate the sabbath every day. Christ gives us rest if we are in Him. It’s also why I don’t debate “the sabbath is on Saturday so why do we celebrate/go to Church on Sunday?” debate.

No .. The sabbath was to point to Christ and our rest from our own works in Him .. Christ is Lord of the sabbath

Here the word “rest” can also mean “to retire.” So we should understand this as God completed His creative act and retired from the act of creation.

Define “rest”…
Rest as I understand it in Hebrews is where the Lord has accomplished all that He desired for a task.
We enter the rest of Christ, as He is our Sabbath. Entering His rest means we also rest from all our labor.
These things are symbolic, not literal. -
Now we have the Lord’s Day. The Sabbath was fulfilled in Christ.

God is Lord of the Sabbath, he do not need to rest, he gave the Sabbath to humankind as a sign between Him and His people so that they can know He is God the creator of all. God in the flesh Jesus set the example what humans should do on the Sabbath. He also knew people will tend to forget it, so he wrote on stone REMEMBER….

He did once, after creation. I do not know beyond that. However, Jesus is very clear when he says that the sabbath was made for man (referring to the time he dared husk some wheat on the sabbath).

Considering the different time zone in the world.Which Sabbath would he keep? The African Sabbath or the North Pole Sabbath. IF HE KEEPS all sabbaths considering the time zones ,then God is in a state of eternal Sabbath.

Yes, it is in the bible, He made the heaven and earth for six days and then He rest and for us also to follow Him

Yes He did..because Jesus is the sabbath God talks about..God bestowed all He can do to Jesus,that’s how He rested.

Now? No. Even then, He only “rested,” or paused his work, as an example to us. He didn’t actually need any rest, even though that was a pretty impressive 6 days. 😉

GOD is still resting. HE did everuthing in the six days!!!

He doesn’t NEED to, but I believe He does since He commands it and even goes far enough (in the OT) to document those killed for violating it.
