Grey Holt Robinson

Reverend Grey Holt Robinson was a devout man of God. Born and raised in Lakeland, FL, he lived 87 full and beautiful years (November 10, 1936 – February 17, 2024). After being called to the ministry as a teenager while cleaning his father’s dump truck, he accepted Christ at the age of 24 and followed God’s calling of full-time ministry for 52 years of pastoring. As a Lee College (University) student, he met and married Linda, his wife of 58 years.

After graduating from Lee College, he pastored across Kentucky, Ohio, North Dakota, Georgia, and Tennessee. He was a master carpenter and could often be found creating beautiful buildings, remodeling local businesses or homes, or constructing furniture. He even assumed the general contractor role while building new church buildings in both Thomasville and Chickamauga, GA. With each drive of a nail, he was devoted to perfection.

Transitioning from full-time ministry in 2000 was a difficult decision made due to his profound vision loss, but Grey found joy in a “retirement job” at Lowes, where he developed special friendships with colleagues. Retirement didn’t diminish his commitment to Christ; instead, he embarked on mission trips, serving churches and an orphanage abroad, epitomizing selfless dedication in the name of his faith in Christ.

As an inaugural member of the Lee Singers, he was born to sing. Music was a cornerstone of his ministry. He fulfilled a dream by recording a beautiful album early in his ministry. He was a passionate teacher of the Word and music. He could often be found teaching music to choirs across the South. His base voice was easy to distinguish while making a beautiful song to the Lord.

While he was not a man of giant stature, his personality filled every room, and he always wanted to be in charge. He embodied doing all that he did to the glory of God, and he wanted to know things were done “right.” Until his death, he pursued being relevant in ministry, still singing in the choir at Westmore Church of God. He was faithful to the very end of his life.

Grey is preceded in death by his parents, A.E. and Mary Agnes (Jenkins) Robinson, his in-laws, Earnest and Ann (Todd) Lewis, and his sister, Agnes (Robinson) Sanders. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; daughter, Ami; son-in-law, Jeff; grandchildren, Jeff Jr., Brianna, and Hudson Grey; sisters, Mary Louise Selph, Linda Gilmer (David), and Margie Platt (Richard); brothers-in-law, Shelton Lewis and Charlton Lewis (Paulette); numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and his adopted Barnett family.
