Means.. he handed the man over to Satan in that he allowed the consequences of his sin he didn’t control the man and tell him to sit right there and do what he said. The man was in continual sexual adultery so God said ok if you don’t want to listen to me go and do things your way but Satan will be permitted to destroy your life here on earth. This was so the man would be saved in the end. In other words hit rock bottom come to his senses and return home. Like the prodigal son. He handed his body over but not his soul. His soul was still Gods

1 Corinthians 5:5 cross references to the OT scapegoat (goat for azazel) in Leviticus 16:8-10, and to Jesus Christ bearing all our sins in his body and delivered to Satan to torture and kill (John 14:30-31) (1 Peter 2:24).
God allowed his son to suffer for our sins so all creation can witness the evil of the Deceiver. Basically, let him suffer the consequences of his sinful behaviour so his eyes will open and see the cruelty of the Deceiver. And hopefully he will repent. -
It means to put him outside of the church body because he is not a true brethren. This the world can beat him up a bit in the hopes that he will come to true repentance.

What was Satan cursed to eat? The dust of the earth. What are we made of? The dust of the earth. What do our trials do? Burn off everything that is not really us and conform us to His likeness.
