I believe REPENTANCE happens once per person

We as a human we have lots of short coming and temptation in life there time that we over come all those temptation through our strong faith in prayer but there are time when we cannot be strong enough to fight against it and falls into temptation…
So thats the reason why everyday we ask for repentance… We do things wrong knowingly and unknowingly…. So repentance is not only once per person but everyday we ask for repentance -
Nope you are wrong, repentance is a life long thing, no one of us is perfect, and we all sin, so we must repent of those sins, unrepentant sin will cause problems in our life

I wish that were true then life would be so easily. Why would the Bible speak of confessing our sins to one another if repentance was not an ongoing thing?

When Paul says he died daily I would think he is says he changing fleshly leading to his spiritual. I understand repenting to be the changing of a mindset in terms of pulling the veil off of sin and admitting the fleshly weakness, denying it and redirecting to holiness. So I think that would be daily as needed.

I am starting to think that this group is just full of trolls because of post like this. The definition of repent is to turn away from. In a Christian context it means to turn from yourself and follow Jesus. Since humans are sinful they have to do this all the time. This goes hand in hand with taking up your cross.

I understand what you are saying but, do you have children TIM? If so no matter how many times it is declared that you are the PARENT, your children still learn, and if they slip or fall, or say or do something that needs to be corrected, they still say sorry, they LOVE YOU ENOUGH TO SAY SORRY.
THOUGH, I do understand the FIRST REPENTANCE BEING THE EPIC ONE FOR THE RENEWAL AND TRANSFORMATION OF YOUR BODY BECOMING A GLORIFIED MEMBER OF THE BODY OF CHRIST, but you still LOVE, and LOVE IS HUMBE AND ALWAYS SAYS SORRY = which is repentance.Matthew 3:8
Produce fruit in keeping with repentance -
If by repentance you mean unto salvation through confession of faith it is a one time deal. But we as humans, as long as we are housed in this corrupt flesh, will always have to confess our sins to the the one who is faithful to cleanse us and forgive us of unrighteousness. 1John 1:9

in matthew, John the baptist would say “repent, for the kingdom of God is near”
in philippians 1, Paul says that “he who began a good work in you will carry it out into completion.”
which means we’re constantly being molded into christ which requires a consistent turning away from sin! -
Repentance happens a lot and more frequent. I think the word you mean is acceptance of salvation.

You might want to read the words of Jesus to the seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3.

Repentance is the act of turning the other way with a genuine heart! Simple as that
Act 3:19 (in accordance with Matthew 3:8)
By turning the other way you give room for the spirit to work in you!
Matthew 3:8there are a few instances in the Old Testament where God repented.

Genesis 6:6-7

Romans 7:21-25 ESVIf I am interpreting it correctly it is a constant fight Paul is having with his own flesh and the Law. I am definitely curious on the scripture you have as well. Please let me know. God bless.

I get the point you’re trying to make and also the argument others have with it. TRUE repentance leading to salvation through the acceptance and belief in Christ Jesus as the messiah who died on a cross and then rose again to bear the burdens of our sins so to make a way for us to be with God is a one time event. Yes. I do believe that. However, we should ask for forgiveness for our sins daily. (I ask for both the sins I know I’ve committed and the ones I don’t realize and for help seeing the ones I don’t realize so I can do my best not to do them again.) Some followers may even find themselves walking down paths that lead away from God and upon realizing that, and repent from that way. Repentance is defined as sincere regret or remorse for doing something wrong followed by turning away from that wrong. Therefore, it is not only done at the time of salvation. Someone could be truly saved, find themselves caught up in a recurring sin and then turn away from that sin and ask forgiveness for that sin.
Example… Betty was saved a year ago after searching for God for several months beforehand. Since then she has worked diligently in her walk with Christ. She reads and studies her bible. She has become active in church. And her life has truly changed for the most part. Betty likes to gossip. She gathers with the other ladies on her street frequently to discuss the lives and scandals of others in town. While doing a bible study, her eyes are opened to the sinful nature and she feels terrible remorse. She falls on her knees and repents for this sinful action and going forward avoids the gossiping gatherings. When called or approached from others with juicy news, she explains how she doesn’t feel right in having these conversations due to her following Christ. Betty wasn’t re-saved. However, she did repent and turn away from an issue of sin in her life.

STAY turn-ed to Jesus diligently, stand-ing fast, enduring, being stead-fast in the faith, that is, reverently trust in what Jesus did for you on the cross at Calvary …. for therein is God’s Holy Way of Salvation, come what may. Repentance is continuous. Just because we become Christians doesn’t mean we are free from sin. We learn to hate our sin and love righteousness. Any sin we commit, we continue to repent. The Holy Spirit convicts us.

People claiming that repentance is continual have never repented to begin with. They repented of a few sins but they never repented by putting their faith and trust in Christ for their salvation. Repentance of sin might be continual. But that’s not the repentance that saves you. It’s believing in Christ to save you. Turn(repent)from your unbelief and believe in the Savior. If you think being good gets you into heaven welcome to Islam, Mormonism, Catholicism, Judaism, Hinduism… Etc

Acts 11:18 Peter’s orderly and reasoned explanation persuaded the Jewish believers so that they became silent. They had no further argument. Persuasion led to praise and they glorified God in recognition that He had “also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”
The bestowal of the Holy Spirit on the Gentiles furnishes the key to the phrase “repentance unto life”. The narrative complements Peter’s message to the Jewish worshipers at Pentecost (cf. Acts 2). On that occasion his Jewish audience required repentance and water baptism as conditions for both the reception of the Holy Spirit and the forgiveness of sins—national reconciliation and personal restoration to fellowship with God. These requirements related to fellowship with God rather than to the reception of eternal life—a gift conditioned only on belief in Jesus as Savior.
Repentance unto life here references a post-belief experience related to the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on, and dwelling in, believing Gentiles. Zealous Jewish believers would know about OT Gentiles who believed in Messiah and received justification from God (Rahab, Ruth, and others). Most importantly, they would have primarily associated repentance with the nation of Israel’s experience of fellowship with God.
These Gentiles had entered the sphere of true life and blessing immediately after they placed simple faith in Jesus—rather than either through the experience of a proselyte (i.e., converting to Judaism) or the conditions placed on the wicked generation nationally charged with the crucifixion of the Messiah (repentance and baptism). They now had the privilege of enjoying enablement for the Christian life and its attendant blessings through the ministry of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 7:10 The apostle writes that godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation. While many take salvation as a reference to regeneration, that does not fit the context. Paul is writing of the repentance of people already born again. Salvation here refers to deliverance from the deadly consequences of unrepentant sin, not only in this life, but also before the Judgment Seat of Christ (cf. Luke 15:11-24). For this reason, this type of sorrow should not be regretted. There are great temporal and eternal benefits for repentant sorrow.
In contrast the sorrow of the world produces death. Mere grief does not cause true repentance because it is not brought about by godly conviction. Death here is not a reference to eternal death (i.e., hell), but to physical, temporal death, or to the separation in fellowship that a believer experiences when he walks in the darkness rather than in the light (1 John 1:6). While this verse is often used to prove that repentance is a second condition of regeneration, the context will not substantiate this position.
