How important do we believe our actions are in evangelism compared to simply quoting scripture?

There is another famous Francis of Assisi quote although there’s no actual proof that he said it:
“Preach the Gospel at all times. When necessary, use words.”

The old adage ” actions speak louder than words ” still holds true. Do we walk the walk or just speak a bunch of words. The unbeliever looks at our example — even though Jesus should always be the standard– we may be the only bible they see.
