I recently came across the theory that the Flood was God’s way of purifying the human bloodline tainted by the Nephalim, with Noah and his family being the last family on earth of pure human blood. This being necessary to protect the bloodline that eventually leads to Jesus.

Honestly, I did not even know about Nephalim until I came across this theory after a read through Genesis. The theory seems very speculative to me, which can be dangerous if not clearly presented as only theory.

Can anyone elaborate on this theory? Maybe both for and against would be interesting to see.

God didn’t say that however. And that assumes that the Nephlim were human angel highbreds which a misreading of what the Bible does say. He specified buman evil was the cause.

I also have heard this theory and find it quite plausible if you do some research, particularly into sons of god/nephilim and the original wording at the beginning of the chapter “ Noah was perfect in his generation’s “. It’s an interesting topic.

Noah may not have been the only untainted, but it was he who had found grace.
And, yes, that was a huge reason for that flood.

Some theories are just that theories. Good for a stimulating conversation but not enough backing to make it a doctrine. Besides it wont get anyone saved

It’s an interesting theory. My main problem is that the writer of Genesis tells us the reason behind the flood in Gen. 6:5-7 – that mankind was wicked. You’d have to equate that wickedness with the nephilim. Not only is there no real support from that in the text but it goes against the wider biblical message- namely that mankind really is wicked (see, for example, Romans 3.)

To my mind, the Nephilim would have been known to the original readers and this reference might serve to place the text into a temporal or cultural context.

Nephilim is a misleading miss interpretation/heresy. To understand that part of the Bible you need to understand demonology and how Satan works, yes women bore the fallen angels children as it continues to do it today AS WE SPEAK, satanist get pregnant and offer the baby to Satan and this is a reality.
