Not only that but life would also be without consequences as well

  2. David Madden says:

To be an atheist, you have to prove there is no God. So I’m afraid, no proof, it’s just an opinion!

  3. They O. Theolo says:

If atheism is wrong about God they they all end up in hell .

  4. Marcus Everett says:

First of all atheism is true… athiests exist.

You meant to say “if there is no god, life has no meaning purpose…”

And that’s still false. Whether there is or isn’t a God life has no purpose beyond the will of that god and if it’s the Judeo Christian God… many are lost on the purpose of essentially being a braindead worshiping sycophant for eternity.

Finally… if there is no God, is no purpose… THAT’S GREAT! It means life has no predestined meaning for us and it’s up to us to find meaning for ourselves! Like a blank canvas that we can give meaning to. People seize power in a power vacuum… it’s up to us to seize meaning in a “meaning vaccum.”

  5. Aaron Fader says:

If atheism is true then life has whatever meaning we give to it, individually or societally.

I fear that accepting atheism as true could leave the individual or society open to whatever ‘ism’ or utopian movement in vogue during their time.

And yet I believe that would eventually lead to a lot of despair as people realize during their lives that those ‘isms’ and movements hadn’t worked or failed to live up to the hopes that they had.

  6. Shane Dulay says:

If atheism is true. There’s no transcendent value on anything. Life is just another fleeting dream without destination. Meaning on anything is a delusion aiming to satisfy.

  7. Matthew Ellis says:

I would couch it within the caveat of “moral meaning, value and purpose”. Animals have a meaning; to survive and breed. They have value, for future genetics, and they have purpose, to further the species. However, if you’re not merely an animal acting on instinct but a human with a spirit, these fail to explain our existential needs. Meaning, purpose and value only take on greater meaning when the spiritual becomes involved. Therefore to disbelieve the spiritual is to discount anything above our basic animalistic needs to eat and breed…..in short, atheism cannot answer these questions. Spirituality….in fact Christianity alone offers the only consistent answers to these existential questions!

  8. Kevin T Brady says:

Of course it’s true. No transcendent meaning, value, or purpose. To say the statement is false is intellectually dishonest.

  9. Cody Ashton Hitchen says:

If it does then it’s selfish

  10. Aaron B Lister says:

If atheism were true… Ultimately it would have no objective purpose… But one could ascribe a subjective purpose.

  11. Louie Batislaon says:

Dostoyevsky – “If God does not exist, then everything is permissible”.

Imagine a world like that. Think about what it would look like.

  12. Adam Daniel Broughton says:

“Out, out, brief candle! Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

    -MacBeth

If atheism is true, this is our situation.

To those who would say “false” read the book of Ecclesiastes. There is no difference between wise and unwise, rich and poor, diligent and lazy. All get the same thing under the sun.

  13. Jeff Rosenbaum says:

I’m assuming I get lumped in the atheist crowd as an atheist group here.

I feel like I live an extremely purposeful life. I work in Healthcare, I run a clinic that provides free care to the homeless population, I have a wonderful family, etc etc.

I honestly feel that nothing is missing from my life.

  14. John Gibson says:

If atheism is true, then there is no great mind or intentionality behind the universe or life. There is no final cause for your existence – only an efficient cause. To say that one creates their own meaning or purpose (not the same thing) is to say that one has the ability to do so. If you are nothing but molecules in a cosmic accident, your internal conscious experience is at best an undesigned purposeless spandrel and at worst an illusion. You have no reason to trust your mental faculties because they are here only by Darwinian processes. There is no right or wrong because evolutionary psychology is all that is left of morality. There is no purpose to your life and no matter what you choose, it will not matter in the end. The universe will grow cold in a 100 billion years. The story of you (whatever that means) will end in oblivion. To say you create your own meaning… well what is meaning? A reason to exist? There is none.

  15. Billy Leishman says:

    If atheism is true..
There is no objective meaning, objective value, or objective purpose in a universe with no objective perspective (God’s.)
So LIFE would exist without these 3 elements.

An individual’s subjective experience of their own existence may feel as though they attribute meaning, or find value, and fulfill purposes.. but this is delusional and holds no weight outside of their own opinion. It is also dangerous, because a 2nd person could come along and have their own opinion of the first person’s existence, and thus project their own meaning or value or purpose on to them as well (slavery.)

So, it’s in everyone’s best interest to subscribe to objectivity in regards to meaning, value, and purpose in LIFE.
Which, again, requires the objective perspective, aka, God.

If you want your life to have true meaning, true value, and true purpose.. you desperately need God to be real.

  16. Mohammad Javad Ghafouri says:

True, but this doesn’t prove that God exists.

  17. Tim Francis says:

Technically not, they have no *objective meaning, but can forge a *subjective one

  18. Patrick Oshea says:

Dawkins one of the most known atheist of are time made a statement very similar to that. Along with many other atheist.

  19. David Buyna says:

True, If Atheism is true then life is nothing and death is nothing we live we die the end. But If we believe that and Christianity is true we will have all of eternity to regret it.

  20. Jay Alexander West says:

Life has no meaning if atheism OR christianity is true. If Christianity is true, this life is all about the next life. Atheism doesn’t cover meaning so of course negating theism doesn’t address purpose. It’s like being confused why nihilism doesn’t cover hard solipsism.

  21. Rodney Durrett says:

    Psalms 14:1(KJB)

14 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Even Babylonians acknowledged the existence of the Living God, they just chose to worship their pagan gods.
