In Luke 23:43, Jesus spoke to the Good Thief,
“And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

Jesus didn’t go to Paradise that day, He went to the grave. The verse gets misunderstood because of a simple comma. It should read; “I tell you today, you will be with me in Paradise…” The thief is awaiting the Second Coming of Jesus and the resurrection just like countless others. According to scripture there are very few humans in Heaven. Enoch who never saw death, Elijah too. Moses who was resurrected and brought to Heaven likely to help judge the Jewish nation. And a handful of saints Jesus resurrected after He resurrected and took back Home with Him, a mini resurrection before the final one at His glorious second coming.

Good Thief… lets discuss this one instead

There was no “good thief”. Don’t add to the scriptures.
“Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left. The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.”
Matthew 27:38, 44They were both bad. One converted on the cross.

The dying criminal had more faith than the rest of Jesus’ followers put together. Although the disciples continued to love Jesus, their hopes for the kingdom were shattered. Most of them had gone into hiding. As one of His followers sadly said two days later, “We had hoped that He was the one who was going to redeem Istael.” (Luke 24:21). By contrast, the criminal looked at the man who was dying next to Him and said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” By all appearances, the kingdom was finished. How awe-inspiring is the faith of this man who alone saw beyond the present shame to the coming glory!!

Paradise isn’t heaven. Paradise is a section in Hades (the grave) or Abraham’s bosom where those who had faith in Christ await the resurrection.

It’s proof that one doesn’t need to have water baptism to be saved. ?

Jesus gave so many different parables, illustration, and demonstration how one can achieve salvation at various ocassion. Even at His last breath, He still gave another illustration/example: that one is not too late to believe and receive forgiveness.

Jesus and that man saw each other that day in Abraham’s Bosom.

Both thieves started out insulting and mocking Jesus (Mark 15:32), yet one came into repentance. This must mean that even as Jesus was dying, he was still offering the message of salvation!
Even on your death bed, after a life of sin and rejection of Christ, Jesus loves you and will still offer you salvation if you repent of your sins!
Our good is of infinite love and mercy and grace!
