Is backsliding the same as denying Jesus?

Jesus says if you love me you will keep my commandments!! Backsliding would not be keeping his commandments and denying living the way He commands

The definition of Deny:
To refuse to give or grant (something requested or desired) to (someone)So the answer is yes. It is denial. Anytime we sin it is denial. We grant access to the enemy and deny God.

I have backslidden…and speaking on a personal level I will say I didn’t deny HIM per say, I just wasn’t ready for HIM. I knew His ways were right and I knew He was the only way…HOWEVER..like Lots wife, I wasn’t ready to give up the things of the world and thus I looked back..I thank GOD that He never gave up on me and stood waiting for me to come back home like the prodigal son. I had to experience that part of my life though, and I realize that now, the only thing I regret was I hurt God but thru it all I praise God that He has now turned every single one of my trials into testimonies, I am now able to help so much going thru the same thing I did, and be a witness to the delivering and changing power of God thru His Holy Spirit. I praise God that even though we may turn and walk away even for a moment, GOD is right there with open arms, to welcome us back to the fold. Ty Jesus. #HEISFAITHFUL

no backsliders are largely not even aware of there state, they actually thinks it is well with their souls, the its all good syndrome which of course is far from the truth

One cannot deny something unless specifically asked about it. As in, “Do you take/receive Christ Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?” To reply “No” would be to deny Jesus.
A person who has acknowledged Jesus (as Lord & Saviour, as I have) can slide/slip back into their old man/woman nature. Even without even realizing it, or out of habits because of making a living in/of the world.
If the Holy Spirit is listened to/felt the old lifestyle will only be temporarily maintained. L&P -
Good question. I’ve experienced almost perfect submission to Jesus and the opposite spectrum. And my backsliding feels like denying Jesus.

No its not, we all backslide all the time, if we arent walking in the Spirit constantly, we are backsliding, you can’t stand still as a believer, you are either moving forward or sliding back

Where’d you get the term? Taking some ungodly tradition of men and then asking what application it has to the new man, complete in Christ, as if it were relevant in the first place, doesn’t fly.
Backsliding, as it’s commonly used, indicates one hasn’t understood Paul’s gospel and is still seeking God’s approval based on their performance; as if your salvation depended on what you do. If you want God’s approval and to be a good workman, the way to get it is laid out in II Tim 2:15. That same chapter tells you, as far as ‘denying Christ’ goes (and whatever you mean by that), that the issue is in reigning, not salvation.
15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

I have backslidden and sinned, but never once have I denied Christ. Like Paul, I had a thorn in my flesh and it was weighing on me. But never once did I deny the Lord.

Not in the slightest. Many people backslide but come back to the Lord once they wake up. Those who deny Jesus, were never saved to start with, their conversion was in their head only, not their hearts, simples x

It should be taken very seriously. Scripture has a lot to say about it. It is compared to a dog eating its own vomit, and to have been better off not knowing at all.

I think the idea that you always have to be in good standings with Jesus is ridiculous. It’s not expected from us by God. We all fall short… Sometimes you need time to process ideas and that might make you question things but if God is truth and you look for that then eventually you will come back. Life is a journey and a relationship with our creator. It’s not heaven… bad things are going to happen.

“Backsliding” is not a word in the Bible, so it depends on what is meant by it. Some people say that you must repent (of all sin!) in order to be saved. The Bible, however, clearly teaches the opposite, that salvation comes by confessing Master Jesus and believing the tenants of the gospel (including the Resurrection), and righteousness comes by believing the Resurrection. Or, as I like to put it: Romans 10:9a & 10:10b, due to believing 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, results in Romans 10:9b & 10:10a. Denying Jesus means to deny that His death has the power to save and/or denying that He is Master (your own master and Master of God’s creation). NOW – if He is your Master, then you will follow Him, but that does not mean you will do so perfectly, regardless of the timing of your death (for instance, if you lie then immediately die of a stroke – you don’t lose your salvation for sinning). Sin, also, is sin against the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus and not the Mosaic Law of written ordinances. Romans 6-8; Hebrews 6-10.
