    Necessary for what?

  2. Doc Pip Thomas says:

    Necessary? No. The church decide? No. I always find that question amusing…which church? A particular denomination might have a particular view on the how, when and why, but that doesn’t mean a thing.
    You do the study, and you decide the hows and whens and whys of your own fasting. One person might fast only for one meal, another, the entire day. I do think, though, the main purpose of fasting is to concentrate on time alone with the Lord, otherwise it is is just “skipping a meal”.

    It’s a personal conviction, not a requirement.

    The church decide? Yes and No.

    Fast as many as u can..there is health benefit to that…the church cannot decide when to fast..if ur convicted to fast then do it..but there is what we called Churchwide Prayer and Fasting and there is a duration to that…There is Personal Fasting & Congregational. You can also do Media Fast ( like no fb,IG for 1 week or so )…but when you fast dont make it obvious for others…keep it between u and God…

  12. Charles Baldini says:

    If it’s done as means of a personal season of deep devotion apart from some organized time where everyone is aware that you are doing it. In another words if you do it I believe it’s best to just keep your mouth shut on several levels.

  13. Jonathan Patterson says:

    “Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”

  18. Freddy Jocksand Diaz says:

    Fasting is in the Bible. Anyone who has a pressing situation and seeks humility and to be close to God will simply separate time from everything just to pray and food will not be a priority.

    The Spirit of God regulates it, not a church. But we can give ideas and some guidance.

    Fasting is an expectation from Jesus Christ. If he is our leader we must follow him he fasted. It is our way of humbling yourself before the Lord. It breaks Pride so it wouldn’t hurt too fast once a week or 21-day fast like Daniel. It’s a lot of people who done it but when you do fast don’t be like the heathen telling everybody but the father sees secret he rewards openly.

  24. Robert Porter says:

    Fast
    Isa 58:3 ¶ Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours. {labours: or, things wherewith ye grieve others: Heb. griefs}
    Isa 58:4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. {ye shall…: or, ye fast not as this day}
    Isa 58:5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? {a day…: or, to afflict his soul for a day?}
    Isa 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? {the heavy…: Heb. the bundles of the yoke} {oppressed: Heb. broken}

    17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
