   What destructive heresies are false teachers bringing?

   ‘But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.’ 2 Peter 2:1

   Peter is warning believers not to be deceived by false prophets and false teachers. (2 Pet. 2:1) Those once bought by His blood, are bringing destructive heresies denying the Lord. Let’s examine three heresies being sown by ministers professing to know Jesus. (Mat. 24:4-5) These doctrines of demons are the denial of the Son of God, the denial of the Messiah, and the denial of the lake of fire for the wicked. (John 3:18, 1 John 2:22, Rev. 20:15)

   Who is the Holy One born to Mary?

   ‘And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God…And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” Luke 1:35, Matthew 1:21

   An angel told Mary her baby, the Holy One, will be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:35) Joseph and Mary were instructed to name Him Jesus. (Mat. 1:20-25) He is Immanuel, God with us. (Mat. 1:23) This is the Incarnation. (Isa. 7:14) The Word of God becoming flesh; the only begotten of the Father. (John 1:1-14) Jesus was born to save His people from their sins.

   Why did the Father give His only Son?

   “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

   The Father gave His Son so all who believe in Him will receive everlasting life. (John 3:16) I once heard two false prophets teach Jesus is not the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:18) They claim to be divine Sons of God too. Saints, there is only one Son of God. His name is Jesus. (1 John 5:5, Luke 1:35, Mat. 1:21) The Holy One was the first to rise from the dead and never die. He is the first fruits of the resurrection. (1 Cor. 15:20-23) At His coming, we will be resurrected and receive incorruptible bodies. (1 Thes. 4:14-17, Mark 13:26-27, 1 Cor. 15:52) We will be heirs of God through Christ. (Gal. 4:7) We will be His bride and His wife. (Rev. 21:9-11) But we will never become God. (I John 5:7)

   What is the fate of those denying the Son of God?

   “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:18

   In 1830, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints declared Christianity apostate. Joseph Smith claimed to be the leader of the only true church on earth. This false prophet taught his followers they would evolve to be Gods. (Luke 1:35) This is why Mormons deny Jesus as the only Son of God. (John 3:18, Luke 1:35) Tragically, anyone not believing Jesus is the only begotten Son of God will be condemned for eternity.
