Just an Amazing Coincidence?

“Every beauty which is seen here by persons of perception resembles more than anything else that celestial source from which we all are come.” __Michelangelo

Let’s use our imagination today.

Imagine with me that we are watching (from a safe distance) a massive avalanche. High up on the snow capped mountain we see the first signs of the avalanche as rocks and snow begin to break free and begin a slow and laborious descent down the side of the mountain.

Slowly but surely the descent begins to pick up speed as more and more snow and rocks are gathered up in the landslide and finally with a thunderous roar the avalanche comes to a stop at the bottom of the mountain in a cloud of snowy dust.

And then something catches our eye…a strange looking rock. We make our way carefully through the rubble towards the strange looking rock and when we get there we discover–to our astonishment (!!!)–that the stone had been chipped and shaped in the avalanche into the exact shape of the statue of Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.!

Now the question is, would that rock be a statue?

The answer is, “No.”

Call it an amazing coincidence, or a freak of nature, if you like, but you shouldn’t call it a statue, for a statue is something that is intentionally carved or shaped by a sculptor.

The ONE THING for today: Life can sure seem like an avalanche sometimes. An avalanche that is picking up speed by the minute. But if you look closely you will discover purpose, design, and beautify even in the worse of circumstances.

It is not there by chance or random fortune, it is there because of a loving Designer who is working all things together for your good.

So, no matter how loud the tumult, and no matter how confusing the road ahead may look – put your trust in that Designer, He is with you and will guide you to solid ground. Look around you, there are hints of his loving touch in every day.
