Knowable Important Stuff

“Kiss me, and you will see how important I am.”
― Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath

Investment titan Warren Buffett states that he has two criteria for determining if something is a desirable piece of information.

First, it has to be important

Second, it has to be knowable

Pretty good advice.

Besides being a rather clever quote, I choose a quote from Sylvia Plath for this blog because, as a poet, novelist, and short story writer, she is credited with advancing the genre of confessional poetry.

Bet you didn’t even know that confessional poetry even existed, did you?

Oh but it does. (At least the confessional part.)

Everyday we are tempted to clutter up our lives with the confessional “poetry” of other people’s lives.

And then there are the newscasters, commentators, talking heads speculating frantically on what might happen.

Ask yourself…is all this really important?

And then ask yourself…is it knowable?

The ONE THING for today: You only have one life to live. Don’t waste it on watching other people’s edited version of their life or worrying about a future over which you have no control.
