New King James Version
Matthew 6:33:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
My question is; what are those this to be added ? Do they come automatically or you need to apply some principles to get them?
The food clothing and shelter. He says don’t worry about those things like the pagans do
I think what Jesus is trying to convey, if you seek the kingdom of God (looking to do the will of God) there is no need to worry, for God promises to provide for his faithful because God knows what you need before you ask him.
This mirrors 2 Corinthians 9:8 and 1 Peter 2:3
But what about those who have truly sought His Kingdom and righteousness but they are lacking material things like clothing, food and money ?
The term “added to you” basically means God will give you everything you need when you seek the Kingdom of God on earth over material wealth. If you read on from verse 19, your question will be answered
The things that you need. Ot the things that you want. First things first.
Context
The point is to concentrate on Him and His kingdom, not the things of this world. Jesus is enough for me.
Wow, this is a great question. Actually first you must differentiate between a need and a want. Needs are the everyday basic requirements.ie, shelter, clothing and food. This are a must. Wants on the contrary are the desired necessites in a mans life. ie, A Car, A Television, A Vacation. David declared in psalm 23, the Lord is my shepherd, l shall not want. Meaning when We yield ourselves to God He takes care of us.
