**Protoevangelium- Also known as the First Gospel**

By Roxy Wade, Apologist

Ask most Christians, “Where is the first mention of the Gospel?” and they’ll most likely make mention of the New Testament. But God taught this long before.

Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity

Between you and the woman,

And between your seed and her Seed;

He shall bruise your head,

And you shall bruise His heel.”

Proto: First / Evangelium: Gospel

Because of the fall of mankind sin was introduced into this world.

Romans 5:12

Death in Adam, Life in Christ

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—

As most of you know, sin separates us from God. Genesis 3:15 not only mentions the problem, but Him who is the cure. While the blood of animals could only provide a temporal atonement for our sin debt, God already had in mind a permanent solution.

The capitalized Seed and His in Genesis 3:15 is referring to Christ Jesus. And while Satan and others did their best to put an end to Jesus, their best failed, miserably! God’s ultimate plan was God’s will and no form of creation was going to stop it, human or angelic.

Isaiah 53:10

Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him;

He has put Him to grief.

When You make His soul an offering for sin,

He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,

And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.

Isaiah 53:5-6

5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,

He was bruised for our iniquities;

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

And by His stripes we are healed.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray;

We have turned, every one, to his own way;

And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

The prophet Isaiah informed us 700 years before the death of Christ as to the Who, why and what.

Hebrews 10:4

For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.

Hebrews 10:10

By that will >>>we have been sanctified<<< through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ >>>once for all.<<< 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered >>>once for sins<<<, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, John 5:39 You search the *Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. *The OT Scriptures, as the NT Scriptures were not yet written. John5:46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me.
