Random thought: if some make the case that the mere existence of evil proves God doesn’t exist, can we flip the tables and say the mere existence of good proves God exists?

It’s best just to stick with the Bible and be faithful with the Word.

Except that horse has been flogged to death. Evil exists so that God can show his glory. People just dont like the answer.
-
Evil is the absence of Good.
-
Even better, the existence of evil is proof that God exists. If atheism were true we would have no morals since we are random byproducts of nature. The fact that we try to establish whats good and whats evil prove that we have morality, one that is universal and objective (subjective morality by social conditioning fails). A universal morality points to a measure of goodness, and a moral law giver, aka God.

As above, so below.

When people say, if God exists and God is good, why is there so much evil in the world, answer with this. If soap exists, how can there be so many dirty people in the world?

Spiritually as well as hypothetically light cast out darkness.

Good logic!

There is never a mere existence of good. Only a part of nature has only been revealed to a person who assumes that; however, if such looks deep down, it’s far more vast. (Romans 1:20.)

Athiests like to argue evil in the face of a perfect, good and all powerful God proves the latter doesn’t exist. That argument fooled me for a while. In fact it’s the opposite.
Evil exists because of the freedom to choose. Evil is perceived because there is an objective overriding moral standard to measure conduct against. That standard points to God. Without God, concepts of good and evil and morality have no frame of reference.

The problem for theism is not evil, but apparently pointless evil and suffering. A good god would not allow apparently pointless suffering (that achieves no greater good), but quite a lot of it seems to exist..which counts as evidence against a loving god.

Good point. I think we (believers can). I think those atheists that are emotionally invested in denying God’s existence would passionately resist, but any objective and mature atheists would actually be open minded to consider this.

Evil is more proof of God. You can easily prove there’s a satanic conspiracy in this world, thus validating the Bible.

Also, we cannot have a shadow without the sunshine

Honestly, when people do bring this up to me during evangelism, it’s a great opportunity to preach the gospel. My response is that God will deal with evil in this world. But if God deals with it now, he would have to deal with you. They tell me they are a good person, and then I go through the law and ask them which laws they have broken. it’s revealed that they are guilty of breaking the laws of God, and deserve the wrath of God. Then I preach the gospel.

Neither good nor evil exist apart from God since good and evil require an ultimate standard. No God, no actual ultimate standard and therefore everything is relative, even ambiguous, without God.

We can but they wouldnt accept. I say its better not to talk to these guys.
Whats that verse ‘dont give pearls to dogs’? -
True, do you understand how evil comes about?
-
The existence of evil only shows that an all loving, all powerful god is more likely NOT to exist. Not proof that it doesn’t. You can’t disprove an unfalsifiable claim.

I’ve never heard any non-believers make the argument that because evil exists, proves God doesn’t exist.
I have heard Believers say because good and evil exist, God exists..
I believe we all have the ability to make decisions for better or worse, regardless of whether or not we believe in a god. -
God set the laws of physics in motion. The law states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. That proves that one cannot exist without the other.
But look at that word reaction. One is a byproduct of the other. -
Two words: Original Sin
Look it up and study it in the Bible!

evil is proof of GOD,
Simply because evil is the absence of GOD!https://verdict.justia.com/2020/01/02/why-does-evil-exist-in-the-world

Ravi Zacharias addressed this and annihilated that argument. Just say this:
-
There can be no evil without God, because without a moral authority there is no such thing as evil
-
Yes, it’s using their own reasoning against them.
-
Who decides what is good and evil? Without God we cannot really know good and evil. It is only a supreme being who can set the moral standard.
