Sabbath vs everyday? Calvinism vs Armenianism? Trinity vs Jesus only? Kjv vs any other version? Etc etc etc. Do any of these debates have anything to do with the hope that lied within us? No, so basically these are non apologetics. Then ask yourself why engage in these fruitless debates there are no cash prizes to the winner

Well the Deity of Christ is of supreme importance. If someone rejects the Triune God they will die in their sins. But everything else you mentioned is mostly fruitless.

The Bereans searched the scriptures. Need to be able to know the Word and stand on the Word so as not to be led astray. We also need to be able to present the truth of God’s word to those who are seeking
Yes, it is easy to get muddied in th8ngs that really don’t matter such as KJV vs NASB or NIV. But we need to be firm in God’s truth -
Yes. It sharpens our knowledge of the One and His workings in and through man, gives us a solid account of Truth by understanding His various attributes and then allows us a consistent message of that hope that lies within us.

You don’t get to claim faith in Jesus and then not marry yourself to knowing Him in His Word. Faith leads us to theology of that faith. We yearn to study upon God because we are wanting of Him.

Why engage in apologetics at all? If Paul got Romans right, God made people specifically for the expressed purpose of rotting in hell being the reprobate. I mean Paul said the gospel is nonsense to those who don’t believe. Apologetics seems to be, if Paul is right, the largest exercise in mental masturbation ever

I like the question in this post. I am seeing a lot of debates like these mentioned which do not at the heart really deny any Christian Apologetics and lead into circular arguments amongst brethren. In the end they are pointless.

Although it may seem pointless having these ‘friendly’ discussions it does, or should, drive us into our Bibles. The great care God has taken to lay out Scripture for us implies his desire for us to have ‘sound Doctrine.’

Apologetics is to be a defense of the Scripture, and for the faith. Not debate for the sake of division. We have the Word of God, we must learn to stand on it alone, and as one; then to defend it as one.

Truth vs lie? Why engage in these fruitless debates? Here’s the prize – “you shall know the truth and the truth will make you free.” (John 8.32). Sinner vs holy; follow vs fake, etc.

I agree with this and have been asking this to myself ever since joining this page and other pages focused on other theologies. I asked for advice on helping my sister who believes in pluralism and got two comments. I see someone post a debatable topic the same day, 40+ comments. I should’ve known that most here are looking for a intellectual fight instead of being fruitful.

Some of them yes they have to do with the hope with have in Christ! See for example some of them don’t agree on the doctrines concerning salvation and yes of course one of the must be wrong, it is a Worth thing to discuss about salvation if we believe that someone is wrong for the sake of preaching him the true way which is Jesus Christ. Everything teaching that speaks wrongly about the way of salvation must be offended and the church must defend it.
