I really think misinformation is common place in the Christian community. I am not sure about evolution but at least stop with the straw men arguments. An interesting book is The Genealogical Adam and Eve: The Surprising Science of Universal Ancestry

99% of species are extinct. Don’t see any new species forming. There are perhaps a million species or so, and of those, many interbreed. Seems to me with each kind already having the genetic code. Don’t see lizards evolving into different species ever. Disingenuous.

The best way to cut through the Evolution nonsense is to go straight for the jugular – Abiogenesis.
The idea that the clumsy undirected swaying of a primordial ocean could gather all of the necessary organic compounds needed for life, and then nano-engineer the microscopic biomechanics of the first single celled organism is ludicrous.
Of course this haphazard sequence of events also simultaneously wrote a mathematically precise DNA code, which dictated that the first single celled organism should self replicate in the timespan of a single cell mitosis.

As Christians, do we necessarily have to be anti-evolution? If we hold to a figurative, non-literal interpretation of Genesis 1-11, couldn’t Christianity and evolution both be true?

There are TONS of evidence for evolution. Read a medical or zoological book. Study with an open mind. Look at all the species that have come and gone extinct.
There is no question that evolution occurs, deny it all you want.
