Have gotten this question a few times lately.. Any good answers? I don’t know enough of what happened in Africa. Christianity was spread by slavery and or violence. How can you still be Christian?

Non-Catholic Christian friends (and only them, please), a question for you: Around what year do you and/or your faith tradition hold/believe that the Catholic Church stopped being Christian or diverted in some way? (This is an earnest question seeking understanding, but not to start arguments.)
