It’s funny how a smile on the outside doesn’t always take away the insecurity on the inside. Faking confidence is a hard life to live. Sadly, there are many among us that have lived with a silent agony that eats them from the inside out. Maybe you know someone that lives this way. Maybe […]

Habakkuk 2:14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. There is coming a day that the entirety of the universe will be at rest under the reign of God. Our beloved world will be covered wholly with the perfect knowledge of […]

“Do not waste time bothering whether you “love” your neighbor; act as if you did. As soon as we do this we find one of the great secrets. When you are behaving as if you loved someone you will presently come to love him.”-C.S. Lewis Love is an action. God is always in action toward […]

Back in 2008, I had to tackle these questions.  Here are my thoughts from then and amazing to see it becoming reality years later.  God is faithful!
What character traits and values do you regard most highly?
Integrity, initiative, and accountability are traits and values that I deem to be essential to a servant leader. A team player or leader has to walk worthy of their calling (integrity), exercise the faith they profess (initiative), and realize they play a vital part in the body of Christ (accountable).

Do you prefer working alone or as part of a team?
I prefer working in a team environment because in a team we can hear different perspectives on the same issue. I alone cannot think of everything but I need people around me to bring their ideas, suggestions, corrections, etc… to the table in order for the team to be successful.

Describe your ideal job description (if you had all the resources available to you and you could do anything that you wanted to do, what would that be?).

I would pastor a local church that is focused on impacting the lives in the local community. Bringing young people, children, parents, and families together through different mediums and empowering them in God’s strength is a passion for me. Leading a ministerial and administration team that is equipped with all the tools to do the work that advances the vision God has set on my heart and fulfills the mission God has placed on the church.

Enjoying The Ride,

Pastor Cecil

iStock 000003852552XSmall     This has always occurred but it seems to be increasing.  An individual will suddenly mentally “snap,” and turn a weapon on another person or kill their entire family.  Then, there is the outbreak of the teen “Flash Mobs” who are roaming the cities at night and looking for trouble much like the men of Sodom. If they can’t find it, they will pick an innocent victim and attack them, to the point of critically wounding or killing them.  These mobs organize on Facebook and enter into stores taking from the shelves whatever they wish.  In some areas, the police refuse to deal with them as their own lives are in danger.  Some blame this on the fact that the inner city youth unemployment rate is at 40 to 50% in some areas.  Some “experts” blame it on drugs and alcohol and the breakdown of the family unit and no parental supervision.  The rage appears to be a combination of all of the above, including a mob mentality that energizes itself, like screaming fans at a ball game.

For those who believe the earth is warming up and the winters are not as cold as they once were, they haven’t passed through Tennessee in the past 60 days!  While we have had no snow or ice, the weather has been extremely cold.  At times the days pass without ever seeing the orange glow of the sun.  I am sure the people living in the northeast that recently experienced a major blizzard are wishing for “global warming “to return.  This debate goes back and forth and there are opinions and “evidence” for and against the belief.  This one thing I do know…I am anticipating the end of winter and the beginning of spring.

While winter is one of the four seasons God gave at the beginning of creation, the weather of winter is different in various parts of the world.  On the east coast, cold will eventually give way, the singing of bird’s returns, the warm sunshine beating across your brow and the smell of flowers blossoming will be greatly welcomed!
