Trusting God to show up can be a bit of an enigma. You need God to meet a need in your life or ministry, so you pray He shows up, and yet on the other hand God is everywhere, so it’s impossible for Him to be absent. In other words, praying He shows up is […]

[Make sure you read the background and change posts first.] Being “baptized with the Holy Spirit” is not a panacea for your spiritual ills and human failings. The dim gray light peaks through the leaves
revealing tears as they stream down my face.
I left because they can’t accept who I am.
All the screaming, and intimidation…
Why aren’t you like your brother?
Why are you doing this to your mom and me?

No! Why can’t you love me despite my failings?
Why can’t you believe in me
even when my path varies from the crowd?
So I shiver in these woods – so cold,
with nowhere else to go – with no one to take me in.
And I’ll die here, apparently.
Jesus said this world isn’t worthy of me.
The dim gray light turns brighter,
closer –
and I’m drawn to it.
