The irony of the future

I saw a man about my age the other day…

He was driving a bright red corvette convertible. I felt nothing but sadness for him.

Our culture is obsessed with youth.

But the irony is that the only way to celebrate youth is to live in the past. The future lies in getting older.

Here’s another irony for you, what is it that every healthy child longs for? Of course…to get older.

It’s this way: the adult trying to hold on to their youth operates with a scarcity mindset (time is running out). The youth, longing for that magic birthday when they finally become an “adult”, is operating in an abundance mindset (I have a whole lifetime before me and I’m ready to get going!)

Whacky isn’t it?

A bunch of grown ups trying to hold on to their youth and a bunch of kids wanting to grow up.
