King David was not a recognized prophet, but he did write songs (Psalms). Of course many of those Psalms are prophetic regarding the Messiah.

He was a King! God gave him the greatest compliment ever, saying David had a heart after Him. Its interesting that David is the only king who was allowed to do the priesthood duties! It’s all because he had a perfect heart for God!

He was more than a prophet

King David would definitely be shunned by the modern church.

King David is NOT recognised as a prophet directly hence he is NOT recorded as a prophet in the old testament canon (former and latter prophets)
BUT
indirectly because he is a descended of the prophecy (Isaiah 7:14,Matthew 1:1,6,23).
