Was there demon posses in Old Testament time ? Except Saul because New Testament mention many demon posses Jesus also cast out. But Old Testament I did not find casting out demon, was it new in New Testament time ?

One of the many reasons for the strict laws of Moses were for this very reason. They had no way to expel demons that got in due to certain sins. They stoned them instead or exiled them. It should also be noted that during times of Israel’s backsliding in which the covenant was broken, the prophets called for mass repentance. The only way back to purification was by God’s intervention alone and sacrifices. What a deeply spiritual and prophetic thing in itself that points to Jesus as the only soul cleanser.
The covenant was multifold and it not only kept the Israelites from letting their lines become tampered with, which would jeopardize chances for the messiah, it also kept them from allowing demonic infection into their society and in doing so securing the word of God through the generations etc.. This is at least the understanding many have in viewing Jesus as fulfiller of the law. He not only explains the law but is the full realization and fulfillment of why and what the law is and was,. What it meant prophetically spiritually morally etc etc etc. That being said this is actually a question that many rabbis differ on. From what I’ve read it’s not that they deny it’s occurrence because there is some information in their extra biblical works and commentaries about this very real thing, but that some believe because it isn’t talked about more in the OT that it isn’t important, so they tend not to get too involved.
