What do you think of Christians doing meditation?
Now very popular and endorsed by doctors, actors, and just about anyone, is it as harmless as they say?

We’ll Scripture says to meditate on the Word daily.
Philippians 4:8
Meditation is just getting to a comfortable position, releasing any tension in your muscles, and focusing on your breathing for a few good minutes. It’s practically just allowing your mind to disengage itself from the “noise” of the outside world. Is there a part of the scripture that prohibits that?
I think there are various forms of meditation. So to generalize the whole idea of it as dangerous is a stretch. However, if it is the kind that relates to another religion besides Christianity, that’s when it becomes harmful.
I recommend the book “the second coming of the new age”. It looks at all different new age practices such as meditation and yoga, astral projection, law of attraction etc and how it’s dangerous and totally against God’s teachings, definitely not for christians. It’s written by christans who used to be new-agers.
There are forms that are probably ok and forms that are blatantly occultic. I think it really depends on how you do it
I think people should be cautious though
Bible says meditate on God’s word, not on actors/doctors/peoples advice.
Prayer is you talking to God, meditating on HIS WORD is when He talks to you
Stan will always create a counterfeit of what God meant for Good. If we meditate correctly we could be force that the kingdom of darkness can never stand up to.
We’re all meditating machines, basically. The point is just where we put our focus. One of the words for sight in scripture, the word translated as “fix your eyes” is the root word for catatonic. Do you know what catatonia is? Yes it’s being physically unresponsive. But it’s also having your eyes set on a fixed point and you don’t move them even if there’s a fire in the building or an earthquake or whatever. Your eyes are fixed. We’re commanded to meditate in scripture. So do I think it’s demonic? No. The question is just where we’re fixing our eyes, which should be on the Logos of God
Out meditation has to be in the Word Of God, examining our life in the light of the scriptures and meditate in our Lord God (my humble opinion).
This discussion would require the definition of meditation you’re implying, because clearly meditating is biblical.
Hello, If you meditate in the word of the Lord is different!
This helped me understand the hidden dangers of meditation. Thank you for sharing.
Meditations and similar exercises that come from the East should be adapted with caution if at all, don’t adapt practices that honor or worship other Gods or Spirits, are Occultish in nature, reek of Mysticism (ascending the Physical into the Spiritual without dying) etc…
Psychologicaly there are some benefits and scientific basis in meditating and having quiet, undisturbed and calm time alone. But beware of what you do while being calm. Accompany it with Prayer and remembrance of God. I actually practice Meditation and Mental Exercises on a day to day basis and it has done wonders for my anxiety levels and ability to focus. But of course, honor God and Pray.
The meditation that is popular among actors, doctors, and others deals with more of a Eastern meditation, particularly yoga. Underlying these meditative practices, however, is a worldview in conflict with biblical spirituality- though many Christians are (unwisely) practicing yoga. But God calls us to meditate on His word day and night. To meditate is to reflect on, to ponder, to mull over, to talk about, to re-read, to re-hear, to say to others, and to hear from the lips of others. In Biblical meditation, your aim is not to empty our minds and consciousness, but to fill them with the words and works of God. If God’s words go into our minds, then God’s words will come out in our in our life, speech, and action.
Stay away from it.
Meditation can also be a good thing :Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. (Philippians 4:8)
Meditation of The Word of God is good for us.
Meditate on the Lord, on scripture, listening to worship songs=is ? great! Meditation that empties your mind (such as Eastern style yoga meditation) can leave space for the enemy to creep in and take root- don’t do this!
Depends on the nature of meditation. If it’s about emptying your mind, it might serve as a way for the enemy to attack you. We are called to renew our minds, not empty it.
Philippians 4:8 King James Version (KJV)
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Scriptural meditation is FILLING your mind with the Truth of God’s Word, not Emptying your mind.
Psalm 1:2
but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Nothing wrong with meditating on scripture or the Lord. Waiting on the Lord with the expectation that He will show up is a wonderful exercise and filled with surprises coming from the Lord.
Depends. Scripture tells us to meditate on God’s word.
what kind of medtation are you speaking of ? I meditate on the heavenly father all the time. keeping jesus in your heart makes you stronger and wiser. be care that you do not invite other spirits while meditating. always question the spirits to see if they line up with the word of god; if a spirit tell you to do something against the word of gos ;its not of god. may the holy spirit direct you and keep you in jesus name amen.
meditation is commanded in scripture, it involves ruminating on God’s truth, I recomend it.
Biblical meditation is different from eastern practices (which is being stated here).
One of the schools I went to we used to recite psalm 1:1-3 every assembly.
The meditation you are referring to is to completely blank out one’s mind.”Eastern meditation practices ”
Meditation on the word of God however was commanded by God in Joshua 1:8 and supported by other parts of the bible.
Maybe Christians should stand up to show what real, Scriptural meditation is. And not just accept these doctors, actors, and whatnot tell our families, friends, and youth to practice. Worldly meditation is a Billion $ industry and luring more and more people each day.
So I watched this and totally agree. I went through a season of anxiety and panic and meditation made it much worse. Thanks for the post.
Did you notice the symbol the meditation guru cited in the video? That’s the international symbol for pedophilia.
