I always saw apologetics as giving a reasonable defence of ones faith, not as posting questions to create arguments or find out who agrees or disagrees with me.

Amen to your kind spirit and wisdom
It’s a good way to practice debate skills which are very important in apologetics. Though I do see that in this group the questions can get out of hand.
Yes please. I’d like to hear some of that.
True truth
God’s people do not seek truth unless it fits into their religious man made fence.
Apologetics is an interesting term I would think, based on the word apology. I like to share what appears to work in interaction with people who we witness to. Everybody, I think has a beginning in their Christian walk, mine was Prophecy. To give people an element of truth appears to awaken their interest. Creation, particularly the historical artistic evidence that people lived with Dinosaurs/Dragons is very enlightening and rarely challenged. The General Allenby, Jerusalem 1917 prophecy story works well also. Its engaging people’s interest, giving them something they can examine which contains the elements of Salvation and then leaving them to God. That is really not apologetics but evangelism methodology and I am interested to hear what other people do. Salvation appears to be a journey from ignorance to the Cross and with everyone we meet we don’t know at what stage of the journey we interact.
Carl Moulton This is a refreshing post to read and a great call out on all the disingenuous ones.
Glad we could help, Carl.
I agree. There’s a dvd that says it wield.
Instead of saying “See how they love one another!” to
See how they fight one another!”.
The dvd is called “Before the Wrath” by Olive Tree Ministries.
I thought I was the only one.
Sometimes questions are needed to provoke the necessary thoughts and questions
The Bible is Your backup.
For what it’s worth, a thought out theology is key for good apologetics. Many antagonists to the faith are well aware of the internal debates in the faith and will come at those issues.
Totally agree…
Contentions, anger, strife….all this was told to avoide
If yall wanting to practise debate how about practice awlf examinations and spending time with God therefore He gives you words to defend the Faith rather than handling the word of God deceitfully and attacking people with it
Defend the Faith is to bring people to the faith
Unbeliever or believer but lacks knowledge, we ought to know how to speak
We are fishers of men…we need to learn the right bate
I always saw de fence as divider between two properties. But in my defense I could be wrong. ?
Agree
It’s not a true Apologetics forum.
This is a “polemic” forum but not to “outsiders”.
Good question.
Everyone starts what they believe & the questioner goes home more confused.
Arguments are not quarrels. For you to be an apologist, your arguments need to be supported by valid evidences, warrants and acknowledgements.
Besides, questions is one of the powerful tools for learning. In apologetics, the sole aim to inculcate learning.
Apologetics can help us refine our positions regards faith.
Ok great.
Jesus said the children of the world are wiser than us. We need to come with questions to know how to educate the wise ones.
Part of apologetics is learning how to ask the right questions and provoke thought.
Jesus in us is enough to defend our faith. However the opposition often wants more.
Agree.
Apologetics CAN be the search for new perspectives from ones that don’t quite meet an approach?
Any relationship to this guy?
I just had my thoughts echoed in your post. I want to believe that many who ask these questions may not be believers. But if you are, make up your mind to seek God sincerely. Ask Him to teach you by the help of His Spirit. Don’t create reasons for unnecessary verbal slumfest
Amen
