Just because you still may have a desire doesn’t mean it’s a correct desire that must be fulfilled. Our life as a follower of Christ is to deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him. This is a sanctifying process that teaches us that He alone can satisfy. The object of our desires can never satisfy. He must be our desire.
You need to take it yourself away and understand why God doesn’t like it. If God Himself would take it away and you currently still desire it, freewill might be in danger.
but God didn’t take that desire away? : It’s on you to follow God or not.
Wait on God, pray, and ask for truth about why not to do that life. His way is best and will be the most amazing life for you brother
Kenneth, for change to happen you need intimate relationship with him. You only become week when your sinful man is stronger than your spiritual man. Trust me I know, I have failed so many times as a Christian and it has destroyed me personally. Nothing I settled for made me happy, nothing and no one. If I could go back 15yrs I would not submit to my worldly desires, there is nothing there that will ever satisfy you. I had to experience so much sorrow before I was able to fight my way back to the Lord. There are consequences for living outside of God and you will have to go through the darkest days of your life to get out of the enemies grip again. Don’t do it my friend, deny yourself before God allows you to go, before he hands you over to the devil for the salvation of your soul. Trust me, I experienced it and I can now say, thank you Lord that I am out of the darkness again but I have scars, deep scars because of it. Resist Kenneth, its not worth it
You do what God wants you to do
Hi brother.. as jill said above, sanctifcation is a process of the Holy Spirit pruning and molding us to be like Christ and we have a part in it. It is like God gave us wings but we need to do the flying part. We cannot do God’s part which is saving us and giving us his Holy Spirit. And God cannot do our part where we make the choices in yielding our mind, emition and will under the convictions, leading and revelation of the Holy Spirit and his Word. Do not be deceived by your desires. As the bible says, man’s heart is deceitful above all things. Renounce sinful and deceptive desires and speak God’s truth over it. I have been in bondage myself to a particular habitual sin but by God’s grace, I am now free. It was a long, painful, hard process but its worth the price. God does not do shortcuts. Be teachable along the process. Always go back to the Cross. Persevere in prayer, Word, fellowship in the body and obeying God. And remember that the only way sin has power over us is through deception. May I suggest that you prayerfully meditate Hebrews 11 and 12. God bless brother.
I know from personal experience. I never stop trying. But until or if I ever get better control over sinful desires, I lean on my Savior for forgiveness, and keep going back to the cross.
It’s a long war, won by small daily battles.
You aren’t done till its over.
Fight the good fight. Finish the race. And these light and momentary afflictions, will disappear when you hear, welcome my faithful child. And at last you lay your trophies down.
I would reccomend an author, Max Lucado (sp?), his book, Facing Your Giants.
I would check their Christianity and make sure
Scripture states to take up your cross and DENY YOURSELF. Walk in the SPIRIT so we don’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. ?
HOLY SPIRIT is the key who helps us live according to GOD’s will. unless, christianity would be a yoke for you. and know that CHRIST is the one who lives inside of you,he doesn’t do anything against GOD’s will.
Read the word of God regularly, spend time worshipping Him on your own and pray. The seed you sow will become the life you harvest. And yes, denying oneself comes from the strength you gain in the quiet place.
We all have our Achilles heel. It’s called the Flesh and Satan uses it to Tempt us. Here is my useful Scripture, ‘I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Gal 2:20 KJV. I believe it, that settles it!
He gives us free choice to either love Him or not. We are all sinners and need the Holy Spirit each day. In your morning time with God, ask Him for this protection and meditate on His Word, find a Verse in Scripture to think about as day goes on would be one way.
God never said he’d take the lust away. He just told us what to do how to ignore it.
Just be obedient to the scriptures regardless of feelings…. If I had feelings of having sex with 20 women other than my wife do I obey my feelings or scripture?
Pick up your cross and carry it just like the rest of us..
If they really want it taken away then God will take it away
That’s called Christianity my friend. Did you think it would be a walk in the park? Do not look at how long and difficult the road is. Trust in God today and believe that power for tomorrow will be provided. God does not always answer our prayers instantly. He sometimes asks us to trust Him as He removes our sinful tendencies little by little day by day as we exercise faith day by day. Do you have the power to live a holy life for the next hour? Then do so? If you lack power, fall on your knees, open your Bible, sing songs to Christ. Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Keep on beholding Him and little by little, day by day you will be changed into His image.
Romans 7 :14-25
1st Corinthians 10:13
These scriptures always helped me out. Even when i want to deliberately sin, there is always a way out
There’s nothing wrong with desires; it’s what you do with that desire. Maybe pray for a way to fulfill your desire in a way pleasing to God.
Now, I don’t know what specific desire you’re referring to, but let’s say it involves sex drive. Again, nothing wrong with that desire, but whether you engage in promiscuity or sex within a committed marriage, is the difference between sin and behavior pleasing to God.
What if your desire is necessarily against what is pleasing to God? For example, what if your desire is FOR promiscuity, rather than just a strong sex drive? Then I’d recommend spending some time in prayer and reflection getting at what the deeper need is that you’re trying to meet. Maybe this stems from some past hurt or insecurity. A good counselor might help. Good luck!
Rom 12. Renew your mind. Get Christian counseling. If is immoral you need to mortify it. Fight the good fight of faith.
Same thing that all the rest of us Christians have to do, dive into scripture daily, pray, get on our knees and praise the Lord in worship. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. Discipleship is not easy, but it is the only way to follow Jesus, and it’s SO WORTH IT. There’s nothing this life could ever offer that’s better than Jesus. But to live this life, there’s got to be a constant laying down of our will, refusing to make an idol out of anything in this life.
Seriously, because of the body of flesh we’re all stuck in until glory, is there a single Christian alive who doesn’t have a life that they want to live that they have to lay down in order to follow Jesus? We’re all in the same boat. There are no other boats. Just one, and it’s called discipleship.
I recommend the book, “Jesus Continued” by J.D. Greear, about the sanctifying ministry of the Holy Spirit.
The promise that Jesus will say to me : “Well done, good and faithful servant.e You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.” is a support to take up my cross and deny myself. I still have desires but Jesus is better.
Kenneth Rowland Jr -. In 2 Corinthians 12:7-9, Paul told us he had a thorn in his flesh too.
God told him that His grace is sufficient.
I would argue that God’s grace is sufficient for you too.
We are called to die to self and pick up our cross.
The santification process doesn’t always go as fast as we would like, but it goes according to His plan if we are obedient.
Will you put down His cross and pick up your own?
It’s not easy, but obedience is the right thing.
What if your father was an alcoholic or a drug addict and you had the desire to do the same. Would you resist it? Of course , and with all my strength! For the devil comes to kill steal and destroy , but the Lord Jesus Christ came to give us life and life more abundantly. Pray! Get. Christian counseling! God will deliver you!
Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Wherever there is temptation, God offers us a way out.
Be patient. God answers me three main ways, Yes,No or Wait. What He wants for you may not happen for a long time. Only He knows why, if and when. Give Thanks in all storms and walk in faith that He REALLY KNOWS BEST.
Read the Bible and pray every day.

God is seeking people who will walk in spirit . That means , people who will walk with Him inspite
of how they feel . We are Body Soul and Soirit being . So to live in spirit means to live for Him and ignore what flesh wants and how your soul desired . The more you live in spirit the lesser the flesh desire becomes .
It is God intention for people to live for Him in spirit and in TRUTH . He knows and see all things so we may as well be truthful to Him
We all struggle with sinful desires that God doesn’t take away. And everyone’s desire is different. Some of us crave status or things, others want money or certain freedoms, and some of us want inappropriate or unhealthy relationships. These struggles won’t be taken away until Jesus returns. Some struggles we learn to work around, some we force ourselves to intentionally focus on something else, and for all the struggles we ask for forgiveness knowing that God is struggling with us through these tribulations.
You didnt move out out of the atmosphere….you want God to do it for you, when I face if you truly desire the change, you would do your part to day no to it…God wants to see if you are serious are not, if youa re serious you will change your choices…if you do not change your choices, the you are not serious….and that in way is anyone ones fault but the one making the choice….
When you ha e had enough, you will do something about it, stop blaming God for your choices….they are your choices…not HIS…
Probably just live your life the way you want and make the most of it instead of basing your life on an old book
This is hard. We have to keep in mind struggles will not be completely removed before Heaven
if you know God would say no. It is best to not live that way. Not only do you rob yourself of blessings, but you are sinning against God. Basically tell him. ” I will do it my way, thank you” Not only this, you are breaking the heart of God because you know God would not approve. God loves you and wants the best for your life. You have a choice. Do I live outside of Gods will for my life or do I follow what I know to be true in my heart. Choose the right way my friend, or your life will be very hard without God guiding you.
Isaiah 30:21
And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye … The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. … I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who … And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,”
God led me thru 50 years of doing it my way…suffered much for it, when he gave me the Holy Spirit to guide me when he saved me, I still had a rough time but every day I he sanctifies me a little more…I also got deep into the Word of God which convicts me even more…I’m not sure I’m meant to have an easy path but it’s okay..God’s way is the best way…
Are you asking what should a a Christian do when they are tempted to sin? They should ask God to help them not fall into temptation. It is a test..we can overcome temptation and sin through Christ.
Being a christian is being born again and being filled with the Spirit of God. Our human nature is to sin. Merely being convinced about christianity is not the way. We need God’s nature in us to draw us to Him and sanctify our sinful life. Jesus Told Nicodemus He needed to be born again. Only that way we can defeat this sinful nature. But it is a daily fight. At the beginning it’s hard, but as we draw near to God, as the Holy Spirit in us grows, our sin dies. Nobody grows spiritual alone. We all need mentors, counselor, people who can lift us up and to whom we can be accountable to. Sin is like a cancer, we need our daily dose to treat it. Seek a good christian counselor to help you. And give your life fully to Christ. Jesus said, whomever need faith ask and it will be given. Being Christian is not about being strong, but the opposite. In Christ we are more than conquerors and we can do all things through God. It’s not Us, it.is Him in us.
Will pray for you.
If & when at any moment temptation comes seek God , run to his word, run to prayer , get your accountable believers around you. If you’re struggling with a specific sin that you know separates you from God , take it to God, don’t run away in shame. Our flesh reminds us how weak we are & how bad we need God, in those moments make it a specific point to run to God. That feeling you have of wanting to run towards that sin, just turn it to god. Be hungry for him, thirst for righteousness, cling to the Holy Spirit. If we crave god more than we crave anything else it changes everything
If your right hand causes you to sin cut it off, or if your right eye causes you to sin pluck it out.
What extreme action could you take to put faith before flesh?
2 Cor 12: 7 – 10
God is more than ready to cleanse you from sin. It only depends on you. If you’re really ready, God is more than ready for you.
Jesus did not come that all men may perish but that all men may come to the knowledge of the truth!
Decide my friend! ?
It’s not easy but only when we try to do things in our own strength. You hit the nail on the head when you used the word “desire” As long as we desire something more than we desire to please God than that thing will have power over us that keeps us from truly wanting to stop doing whatever it is that goes against God’s commandments. It becomes an idol and that goes against God’s first and perhaps greatest commandment, “thou shall have no any strange god’s before me”. Sometimes even when we want to stop it seems impossible but with God all things are possible. The way I was able to be released from my idol (after many times trying to stop and then asking for forgiveness when I couldn’t) was through confessing to God that I was totally unable to stop on my own and that I needed His strength to help me stop. Like Paul with the thorn on his side, I needed “God’s strength to be perfected in my weakness”. This was followed by reconciling myself to Him and recognizing Him (Yeshua) not only as my Savior but as the Lord of my life. Am I still tempted, yes but I finally stopped obeying that idol and I am free to this day. It is a daily battle but that’s the case for all of us because the goal of a Christian should be grow in our relationship with Yeshua (Jesus) until we reflect Him and our lifestyle is modeled on His when he was on Earth.
It is our God given responsibility to fight our earthly desires.
