Who is Mystery Babylon?

I always hear lots of answers and some of the most popular are, “Mystery Babylon is the U.S.A.” or “Mystery Babylon is the Catholic Church and/or the Vatican”. I personally used to believe that it was the United States but have since then changed my position on this topic.

What clues do the Scriptures give us? The Book of Revelation chapters 17, 18 & 19 actually give us over 90 characteristics that will help us identify who Mystery Babylon is and by comparing Scripture with Scripture, we will discover just who, “Mystery Babylon” really is…

Let me start by quoting King Solomon,

Without further ado; Let’s see what the Scriptures really have to say…

I believe Mystery Babylon will be Eschatological (End Times) Jerusalem. We can know this because Mystery Babylon is drunken with the blood of the saints and prophets and has the blood of the prophets spilt in her. Jesus/Yahshua said that a prophet cannot die outside of Jerusalem in Luke 13:33.

“For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.” – Rev 16:6 KJV

“And I saw the woman (Mystery Babylon) drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.” – Rev 17:6 KJV

“And in her (Mystery Babylon) was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.” – Rev 18:24 KJV

“For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore (Mystery Babylon), which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.” – Rev 19:2 KJV

So if Mystery Babylon has the blood of the prophets spilt in her, Mystery Babylon must be Jerusalem because Jesus said that a prophet cannot die outside of Jerusalem.

“31 The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.
32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.

Jacob was of the flesh. Israel is of the Spirit. The TRUE Israel is those that believe in Christ and obey God. However, the physical seed of Abraham will eventually turn back to God because they will be provoked to jealousy by the favor of YHWH to the Gentiles that believe in Jesus Christ/Yahshua. The abomination that will occupy the land of Israel in the last days will not be the true Israel, but the synagogue of Satan.

Please don’t think that I am anti-Semitic or that I hate Jews. I love God’s people. I support the TRUE ISRAEL. Not those who say they are Jews but are not but are of the Synagogue of Satan.

Jerusalem was specifically called a harlot several times throughout the Scriptures and always in the same context. Always spiritual harlotry, following false Gods, and killing the prophets. Here is just one example but there are lots more.

“How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.” – Isaiah 1:21 KJV

The entire chapter of Ezekiel 16 is about this subject as well as the entire Book of Hosea.

There is a lot more to this, I mean A TON OF EVIDENCE FROM THE SCRIPTURES that prove this, but I will keep it short and simple for now. I could take several hours if not days to type this out, however, if you genuinely want to know more you can watch this excellent presentation by Chris White.

I personally used to believe that it was the United States or maybe the Vatican or possibly even layered in time sensitive meaning, but I have come to the conclusion after a thorough investigation of the Scriptures, that it cannot be either. It can only be End Times Jerusalem. Think about it. The beast is the Antichrist and the harlot is Jerusalem. Obviously from the Scriptures we know that the Antichrist is going to rule from Jerusalem. This is the only view that I have found stands up to Biblical scrutiny and was actually the original view of the early Church. The first commentary ever written on the Book of Revelation actually held this view and it was written around 200 A.D. When we allow the Scriptures to define themselves, the clouds of confusion disappear. God is indeed not the author of confusion.

1/3rd of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will be saved but 2/3rd’s will be burned up in the fire. Babylon is destroyed with fire.

13:8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

The best argument against this is that if Jerusalem is destroyed and never inhabited again; How is Jesus going to rule from Jerusalem in the Millennial Reign?

A good question deserves a good answer. The answer to this question is found in the last 8 chapters of Ezekiel.
In these chapters Ezekiel lays out the plans for the construction of the city of Jerusalem that the gentiles will build for the Millennial Reign of Christ. The location given for this city is not the same location that the current city of Jerusalem is in. The dimensions of this city are 12,000 stadia by 12,000 stadia at the base, and 12,000 stadia high.

A few last points: Not only does Jerusalem sit upon 7 hills which matches Mystery Babylons description, The whore sits UPON many waters. Not beside many waters. I know the waters represent people but I believe that there is also literal meaning to this. Jerusalem literally sits on many waters. The Gihon River flows UNDERNEATH Jerusalem. It’s a fresh water spring and Gihon means, “Gusher” or “Geyser”. Water used to gush up into the Temple.

Also, where was John exiled from? JERUSALEM! Where will the Antichrist rise to power and rule? JERUSALEM! Who will commit the ultimate religious & spiritual harlotry? JERUSALEM when the Antichrist declares himself to be God in the Temple in JERUSALEM. This is known as the ABOMINATION that maketh DESOLATE.

Think critically!: What is supposed to happen to MYSTERY BABYLON!? She is destroyed with fire and found no more at all, never inhabited again.

The Antichrist will rise to power in Jerusalem and conquer the surrounding nations and the Jews who do not accept Jesus Christ/Yahshua as their Messiah will see the Antichrist as their conquering Messiah that they have been waiting for.
