Why i started this blog I’m a former atheist of…

I started a Christian/Christian Apologetics blog a few days ago…I was a lifelong atheist before coming to Jesus Christ. Being a lifelong and very recent atheist (3 years ago)…I kind of understand what makes them tick. Also how they view Christians in a general discourse situation. One of the things that make atheists steer clear of Christianity is when they hear “Because it’s in the Bible”…”Or you just gotta have faith.” I’m starting this blog to try to spread biblical truth and bring Non-Christians to Jesus Christ. Just as important though…is to help Christians defend their faith. Trying to do it in a Biblical manner that’s glorifying to Christ. I want to be critiqued in my approach by fellow Christians as well…see if I could word things differently etc. I’ve only been a Christian for three years…i have tons to learn from people who have been Christians their entire lives. This group seems like the kind of folks who would really engage this kind of blog. I wrote a very detailed testimony to catch people up to speed on how I discovered Jesus Christ and how he changed my life completely from a very bad place. It’s fun to finally be in a group of like minded people. Wish I would’ve joined this group a long time ago. Let me know what you think about it. Good, bad, or indifferent…thanks.

Welcome to the family !!! I have always found it helpful when yalking with people who have come from different groups what helped them see Jesus, what scripture msybe helped change their minds. Of course, it is the Holy Spirit that does the calling but somewhere along the way a seed was planted

I know the spirit searches us, and brings us to Christ. With that being said, looking very forward to reading the the apologetics you find most appealing and convincing to atheists.

I personally find creation science (Institute of Creation Research is Genesis History, and Answers in Genesis) most useful in debunking evolutionary science and big bang.

I also find people like William Lane Craig, Ravi Zacharias, Frank Turek, and Garry Habermas most useful.

What’s one of the interesting things about the Bible is that it is not locked into any space or time paradigm. There is no expiration date. It can never become an anachronism.

It is the living Word, meaning it applies to all people, all cultures, anywhere, at any point on the time continuum.

There are layers and layers of truth embedded in the Bible, like a 100,000,000 piece jigsaw puzzle…some layers more obvious than others….it seems to me, perhaps, that the more you study it, study the context, geography, and cultures in which it was written, study the language nuances, and become aware of history, philosophy, other competing religions, and sociology or human nature, the more it becomes apparent that not only is the Bible the inspired Word of God but that God wants us to be deliberate and intellectual in our approach to learning and applying His Word….as if we are given subtle clues to “dig further” and when we do dig deeper (e.g.: investigate seemingly contradictory positions in the Bible that are not only not contradictory but turn out to reveal a deeper, distilled truth) are rewarded with deeper wisdom and understanding of who God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are…and what truth, the law, and love are.

And, I agree “just have faith” is akin to saying to non-believers to do the opposite of the above and what God wants us to do when he said in Luke 10:27 to love Him with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind.
