I think it depends. If you’re rich ‘christian’ only by name.. nahhh. If you’re rich and do and preach what Christs did.. then yea, salvation doesnt only come by naming yourself a christian.. its through faith — by works.

Define rich. If you own a home with basic utilities in America you may not be considered rich by Americas standards but you would be considered rich by other countries standards. The 90% of America is the top 10% of wealth in other countries.

Heaven is for as many as do believe and are walking according to the will of God. Read John 3:16. The word used there is “Whosoever” believes. Rich or poor, blind,tall, short, black, white ,etc.

Riches themselves do not bar anyone from heaven. How would we define what amounts to wealth anyway? As others have noted it is the heart that counts. But I suspect Jesus’s comments about wealth highlight the fact that to get rich many have exploited others, and overlooked the needy around them.

Wealth is not the yardstick but it places one in a more difficult position.
Jesus said it will be more difficult for the rich:
Matthew 19: 24. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
And Paul said they should be warned, charged to be extra careful:
1 Timothy 6: 17. Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; -

YES, Provided
1) they accept that they have sinned and Jesus came on Earth because of their Sins and they repent for their Sins.
2) They Accept the Sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross was for them and accept that Jesus paid for their Sins so Jesus is their Saviour.
3) Jesus died for them and also resurrected on 3rd day by defeating death and hence we have the hope of resurrection and gift of eternal life given by our Father through his Son Lord Jesus Christ.When they follow above three steps, they are Born Again.
When anyone, irrespective of Rich or Poor, is a Born Again person they have the responsibility to Live a life that pleases God, to leave back the old life, crucify your old habits and sins and be a new creation in Christ and walk with Christ for the rest of your Life under guidance of Holy Spirit.
When anyone does that, they are assured to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus said those things about the rich in order to explain that most of the times rich people are likely to stray away from God because your wealth diverts your attention from God, you are more worried in protecting your wealth and you don’t want to leave it; just like that Rich Young Man who came to Jesus. What Jesus said about rich people entering heaven is more of a warning to us all rather than a literal sense statement.

Your question is coming from Mark 10:25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
The rich Jesus Christ actually referred to in the verse is the richness in spirit because Jesus Christ explain this statement in Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

God never said it’s wrong to be rich. He made King Solomon the wealthiest person to ever live because he asked for wisdom. And King Solomon, with all of his wealth, “chases the Jones’s” for us in Ecclesiastes so we wouldn’t have to be rich to learn those lessons! “Chasing the wind… “

People please! Don’t be a cafeteria Christian! Jesus said explicitly. “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God”. It is IMPOSSIBLE for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, therefore it is impossible for a rich man to get to heaven. Now define rich? There may be some debate here, but we can all agree having a net worth of over $50 million is rich. See you in hell Olsteen, Myers, and David Green.

The Scripture doesn’t say that someone who is rich can never go to heaven. In fact, some of the Scripture’s most faithful men and women who were wealthy (or at least prosperous) people like Abraham and Job in the Old Testament, or Joanna and Lydia in the New Testament. But the Scripture does warn us about the dangers of wealth and one of the greatest dangers is that it can keep us from God. Instead of putting God first in our lives, we put our money and wealth first, and end up ignoring God.

I know of a man of whom his net worth was probably 50 million. The way he handled himself and treated others you would never know he was very wealthy. Very rarely missed a church service, nor a Wednesday night prayer meeting. He passed away some 6 yrs ago. He is forever with the Lord. He was truly a great Christian man.

The rich can be saved if their focus isn’t on their wealth or good works like the rich man who asked Jesus about salvation (Mat 19). The whole premise of that conversation was built on the question, “What good deed must I do to enter into eternal life?”. This conversation caused all the disciples to question their own salvation, and they asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus responded to this question of salvation when He said, “With man this (salvation) is impossible. But with God all things are possible.” The issue is salvation based on works, not salvation based on wealth. If we are going to condemn the rich, then how do we account for Nicodemus, Zaccheus, the apostle Matthew, and the many Christians who supported the Christian movement in the NT?

The rich young ruler could not give up his wealth because it was where he found his identity, it was what he worshipped. Why would Jesus ask him to give it up were it not so? If someone is monetarily well off and it does not become an idol, the person has opportunity to bless the kingdom. The question is not the riches, the question is what’s in the heart of the one who has the riches. I’ve known great Christian men who are pretty well off and give of themselves according to what they have, I’ve known rich men who hoard and worship their wealth and security setting it up as an idol, I’ve also known people like the widow who give from their place of poverty. Again it is not the wealth that the issue, it’s the heart.

All things are possible with God. The young rich man wasn’t just a rich man, he was a rich man who loved money. The issue is not money, it’s love of money.

There are 2 kind of rich people. One who fancy their big boat and playing golf on it not caring about the other people. Basically they are selfish kind. The other kind of rich people are the ones who cares for the people in the world and knows what the value of money really is. They aren’t the selfish kind. In reality it all about what kind of heart they have and the fruit they show.

We will receive the desires our heart. If our true heartfelt desire is to live for Christ then our life will reflect that and we will receive eternal life in Christ Jesus. If our heartfelt desire is to keep up with the Jones’s and gain material wealth our lives will reflect that and we will spend eternity outside of Christ. How much of your time, talent, and treasure do you invest in a personal intimate relationship with our God and Savior? You reap what you sow. God bless

Christ never said the rich man couldn’t go to heaven, but that it’s very hard. The wealthy have no need for Christ, all their needs are met by their money. We need to remember though that even the poorest American has more than the majority of the world population. To most of the world all Americans and Europeans are quite wealthy

If they repent and believe (AKA are REAL Christians), then sure. Being rich is not a sin (see Abraham, King David, King Solomon, Job); loving riches more than God is a sin (1 Timothy 6:10)

That depends on their heart. It doesn’t matter what you have. You could have the clothes on your back and a rag on a stick when you die, if you’re heart is right with God, you’re going to heaven. Just because there’s a very real and legitimate example in the bible of a rich man rejecting God does NOT mean that all rich men reject God and it’s a disservice to rich men who DO embrace God and use their wealth for God’s glory to paint them all with the same broad brush stroke.
