Heb. 11:7
7 Noah was warned by God about things that he could not yet see. But he had faith and respect for God, so he built a large boat to save his family. With his faith, Noah showed that the world was wrong. And he became one of those who are made right with God through faith.

    No .. it was both..

  2. Barry Beutell says:

God’s grace gave Noah the faith to obey Him and perform the work of building the ark despite being ridiculed.
Works follow faith, but faith without works is dead,

  3. Kent Morris says:

Was God not showing Noah grace by telling him how to save himself from the flood?
I think many people think there is no Saving Grace in the OT but that is incorrect. Gen. 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and he will crush your head and you will Strick his heal.
That’s is the ultimate grace by promising us Jesus to come and save us from sin.
We are all saved by grace. Even Noah.

  4. Daniel Ho says:

On Noah’s part, his faith saved him and his family. Hebrews 11:7, on God’s part, it was completely His mercy and grace through which Noah and his family were warned and be saved.

    Or maybe it was election…?

Saved by grace, through faith. Works are outward sign of an inward faith but do not play a part in earning salvation.

  10. Ben Peckover says:

The obedience came out of Gods Grace. False dichotomy

  11. Elai Kumar says:

What really God grace to you..?
God grace is the key why noah got saved and the reason why hey obey … Cos by God grace assured them not only give them assurance of salvation also he provide and sustain them.

  12. Stephan Julsaint says:

    2 things:

#1. Grace saved Noah because Genesis 6:8 said he found favor from God. It was grace from God to give him Revelation of what was going to happen and what he needed to do to escape. God was not required to save him. We know he was a sinful man as we read he got drunk later on

#2. The word ” save ” is not always used in the sense of spiritual salvation. With that in mind, of course obedience ” save ” Noah from the flood.

Grace is not the enemy of obedience. They are friends but grace is ALWAYS first

  13. John LaFort says:

Grace saved Noah’s soul. Obedience saved Noah’s family. Fixed it.

    False Doctrine

Faith comes first. Trust is faith in action. Obedience is love for God.

  16. Andrew Beltz says:

Grace warned Noah of impending doom.

Grace gave Noah the plans for the Ark.

Grace gave Noah the strength and perseverance to build the ark.

Grace closed the door of the ark.

Grace kept the ark afloat and brought it to rest in the mountain.

    Therefore grace saved Noah.

  17. Nick Shara says:

“But Noah found GRACE in the eyes of the Lord .”
    Genesis 6:8

    Romans 11:6

  18. Rebekah Yaxley says:

There’s no way that Noah could have stepped out in obedience without God’s Grace. Grace always comes first.

  19. Jeswanth John says:

Don’t speak low of Grace while expressing your personal opinion. Grace did save Noah. It was because Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord, an escape way has been made. Obedience was on part of Noah to heed that way. What if there was no way out has been made, what would obedience do then ?? So please don’t undermine the precious Grace of God. Instead you can say about importance of obedience, through Grace of God. Good day !! Jesus Loves you.

Man centered theology will always miss the fact that God chose to save Noah even before he obeyed.

  28. Eli Marshal says:

How about the knowledge, the skills, the provisions, the wisdom, the peace and many more necessary to bring up this enormous Ark that able to accommodate numerous animals and stand up gigantic floods and wave, its all from God’s grace, and cannot be credited to noah’s abilities. Many times we all knew is we pursuing God, but unknowingly that all along God is the one who pursing us. Next time when we look at the Ark we should not see Noah’s greatness rather we see God’s amazing grace, I’m not worth it, but I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

  29. John Teh says:

Rom 10:17 Faith comes by/from hearing and hearing what? The Word/message of God! There is no faith without God first pronouncing His message of grace and favor. So don’t be puffed up with self righteousness.

  35. Paul Norman Hanover says:

Faith without works is dead – James, chapter 2. Faith is made complete in works. Salvation is not by works, but salvation without works is false. If the faith is real, the works will be real. If obedience doesn’t follow, then grace and faith never happened.

  40. Billy Jay Simpson says:

Oh sure. After God extended his grace by advising him of what was to come, telling him what to do to survive it and how to build the boat. Seems like Grace.

  41. Joe Karmels says:

By grace of god Noah was able to build the boat

God had grace on Noah by warning him about the flood and giving him instructions on how he could preserve himself and his family. Without grace, there would be no chances to be obedient. We constantly fail at being obedient to God and yet, God still extends His grace to us. Obedience to God does bring favor from God, but it is not our obedience alone that saves us.
