What are your views on the Shroud of Turin and…

What are your views on the Shroud of Turin and the claim that God could have sent us this ‘proof’ of the Divinity of Jesus?
The Shroud of Turin is a rectangular linen cloth comprised of flax measuring 14.6 feet long and 3.5 feet wide. It bears a faint yellowed image of a bearded, crucified man with bloodstains that match the wounds suffered by Jesus of Nazareth as recorded in all four gospel narratives.
Its a photo negative from a real person, there is no paint on the image, the photograph of the Shroud is the only known two dimensional image on Planet Earth that displays three dimensionality, analysis of the grains and plants found on the Shroud are identified as coming from species that could be found only in the months of March and April in the Jerusalem region, and so on.
The people that surrounded Jesus in His time had the advantage that they could believe in his Divinity because they saw His miracles.
Could it be that God gave us this ‘piece of evidence’ so modern people could also be without excuse?
I know that we don’t need this kind of evidence to believe in the Divinity of Jesus (John 20:29
‘Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed.”) but isn’t it a welcome and strong confirmation if true?

    Fake maybe or maybe not. Probably closer to fake but it’s existence is more important to Catholics whom venerate objects and saints. I personally hope it’s real but my faith doesn’t stand on it.

    ITS THE REAL DEAL! I know carbon 14 dating places it in the 13th century but C-14 has also placed a normal human to be 1000 yrs old that is alive today.
    I believe it to be authentic !
    It was an impossibility back then to create something like this. A burned infusion of a real man – totally authentic
    !! It is JESUS CHRIST MESSIAH! BUT !! We don’t need that to prove His existence

    I don’t know. The Bible doesn’t say anything about this, but that the cloth was neatly folded. I just hope and pray people do not commit idolatry to the image or the cloth.

    We know the burial clothes the Christ was buried in had a separate piece that wrapped his head, this one clearly is one piece. I seriously doubt this is real, it makes no sense why first century believers that experienced the living Christ would save things that belong to the dead. There are no biblical accounts of anyone producing these burial clothes saying, “look, we have the burial clothes!” Ridiculous.

    An amazing amount of testing has been done on the shroud. No one can prove it is not a projection of Jesus.

    I have read soo much information on this, most of it quite convincing and somewhat fascinating! Although at the end of the day it’s a piece of cloth. But very cool .

    Veneration of icons is plain and simple idolatry. The legitimacy of this shroud doesn’t add much to the historicity of the crucifixion or the resurrection. We have good evidence for the crucifixion and empty tomb. This shroud will only become something fools will worship if given the chance.

    Phony. First, Jesus would never leave something with his image behind as humans would worship the object (just as the Catholics are doing) second burial clothing was not one piece, there were separate pieces for the body and head

    why would anyone be content with a filthy rag when the whole point is that Christ is alive? we need Christ and His righteousness to be saved. Not a relic or false icon to give us proof of his life and resurrection. It’s garbage like this that I think Satan uses to pervert the gospel and lead people astray.

    The shroud after careful study by scientists seemed genuine but when a piece of it was tested for its age it was discovered that it was made centuries after the death of Christ I.e. It was a very good forgery but that in no way invalidates the existence or crucifixion of Christ. I also believe God likely didn’t want to leave any souvenirs so that they don’t become objects of worship but unfortunately so many artefacts have come up through the ages and become objects of worship e.g bone of James brother of Jesus, a piece of wood claimed to be from the cross, various burial sites or certified holy places. Nearly all these different artifacts through the ages have been scientifically proven to be false

    A documentary in History channel hired an expert in reconstructing face and they did. The man on that shrowd appeard to be good looking. Isaiah 53 said, Jesus is not good looking

    You guys notice how you can’t see the thumbs? When the median nerve is punctured, the thumbs naturally bend behind the hand. This would have been the case with a crucified man. The amount of forensic detail in this cloth is unbelievable. Anyone who attempted to create a forgery was WAYYYYY ahead of their time. We can’t duplicate this today – never mind in the middle ages.

    It’s one of two things…Authentic? Super cool piece of historical and scientific evidence, however, nothing to be worshipped, for the Bible tells us so. People will still worship it. Fake? Oh well, people will continue to believe it’s authentic and worship it regardless ??‍♀️. Let’s pray for those who worship it no matter what the truth is.

    All things sufficiency for salvation is in the bible. I don’t think the shroud can be proven to have held Jesus. But the risk of it being fake is too high to risk displeasing God in idol worship.

    I LOVE this. I have to share since this is here. As a little girl we lived in the Missouri river valley in the midwest. Cottonwood trees adorned the landscape. Our (very 1970’s) sliding glass door from our lower level TV room in our (very 1970’s) split level house faced two cotton wood trees. Cottonwood tries are very very tall and don’t have many branches at the base, mostly at the top. Strangely, the cottonwood tree closest to the glass door was missing its bark in a certain section from about 30′ up all the way down to the ground. I would stare at it as a little girl.

    An image on a shroud, burnt toast or a rain soaked wall…they are NOT evidence of Jesus. The Bible has all the proof needed to believe in Him.

    It can’t be Jesus’ burial shroud because of the full-body imprint on it. In John 20:6-7, the Bible states that there was a separate head covering (called a handkerchief) from a linen that covered his body. The Shroud of Turin shows that it covered the person’s head. Therefore, it stands to reason that the Shroud was not Jesus’.

    Well, for those who already beleive. There might seem as no need for this shroud. But for those that beleive by seeing evidence. This shroud has proven to be at least a testament to us about what Jesus endured. However, recently I think it was in 2010 or 2013 that the Vatican allowed scientists to study it
    They encountered some amazing facts.
    1. It is not a fake, it’s real, and it is impossible to get DNA because its marks are not made by bloood but by light

    2. The mark inprinted is a negative copy. It was proven to have been produced from inside out just like a photo copy machine functions, and the light passed through the fibers of the fabric. There was no possible technology that could do this back then. So it is not outrageous to imagine the The Light of Jesus resurrection left that mark from inside out.

    Carbon dating of the shroud does not match the time of death of Christ. It’s a propaganda of some enterprising minded groups who’d like to gain financially from the tourism that a shroud would create. Relics are always visited by fanatics and gullibles.

    This is called a form of medieval photograph. The stigmata was painted on. There is a feature about this on Netflix.

    I believe in Him witnout any doubt. I don’t need any evidence other than what is told in Bible by His contemporaries. I believe in His Word.

    They are fake. This shows Jesus with long hair. Now as we know by the Bible. It’s a shame for a man to have long hair. 1 Corinthians 11:14 says this.

    No one can say for certain if the shroud and sudarium are unequivocally the burial cloths of Jesus, with that said, there is compelling evidence for them to be so. Also, I seriously doubt Jesus’s burial cloths would have been tossed into the rubbish or burned by the disciples. That is not to say they would have been worshipped but most certainly valued greatly.
