I remembered that there are multiple Greek words used for the word “love.” So I looked up the word and it appears as “agape,” or Godly unconditional love. With this in mine, why is love trusting? I love my daughter, but I don’t trust her. Since God knows we are not perfect, I can’t help but to think that He knows when we are lying to Him. So what does trusting mean with a Godly love?
Love and trust are not the same thing. It is completely possible to love someone that you don’t trust at all. Trust is earned, and is the result of someone’s actions. Love is unconditional, and is the result of knowing Christ.
Agape does NOT include the concept of “unconditional trust.”
God’s love agape means God’s love us inspite of..He trust us willing to give His life for us….
Agape is not always Divine Love
The Greek word agape does not always mean divine love. In some contexts it just means love or affection. In the Bible it sometimes even refers to a wrong kind of love. Men loved darkness (John 3:19), or the praise of men more than God (John 12:43), or this world (2 Timothy 4:10). Here we see three cases where the word agape was not godly love. The verb and noun form do not have different meanings. Just like the words love or affection in English, the meaning depends on the context. A preacher’s volume and enthusiasm are not always a sign of divine inspiration and quiet preaching may not indicate that truth is absent. If we want a definition of agape which is the kind of love that God expects we must go to 1 Corinthians 13.
God’s live doesn’t trust you to do anything as you and I were powerless. God’s love sacrificed self in order to redeem all who believe.
