A friend of mine years ago quoted a scripture from the old testament and at first I didnt believe it. So 30 years ago I looked it up and to my astonishment it was there. Today it’s gone and some articles claim it never was. So here goes: Better to put your seed in the belly of a whore than on the ground. Btw, my friend used that quote to cheat on his wife..comments?

There is not now, nor has there ever been a verse that says that. It is a miss-representation of Genesis 38:9.
“Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother’s wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother.”

It was never in the Bible.

That verse should still be there! I forgot their names but context was a man passed away, widowing his wife – it was practice/custom/tradition back then that the brother of said man must take in the wife as his wife – he didn’t want kids though (because the kids would legally be his brother’s kids), so he spilt his seed on the ground, angering God – the verse is still there I assure you
Edit: fixed a typo, added part in brackets about motive

Check out Genesis 38:9

Honestly folks I read it in an old bible years ago so I know it once was.

I think you are referring to the passage found in Genesis chapter 38.

Took it out of context and twisted it to support his foolsihness. He is trying to deny his sin.
-
Which version did you look it up and is it same version you are looking at now?

I dont doubt that he used it for an excuse to sin but it did leave me curious whether it truly existed.

30 years is not a long time. If the verse was there 30 years ago there will be plenty of Bibles around which contain that verse. The best thing to do is type it into Google.
