God judges a person by the good and evil. Suicide isn’t something a person has a chance to repent from, but it’s not the only thing they’ll be judged on. God knows our circumstances and our hearts. A person can be a believer and fall into depression and make an irreversible mistake, God knows their before and after and He is a Righteous Judge. Only He knows or decides what happens to each of us and I know what He does is right and just.

Suicide won’t send a person to hell if they know Jesus…. that’s an old belief in the church ⛪️ and is simply not found in the Bible.

Consider the compassion of God. When I worked the suicide hotline, we were taught that temporary insanity is necessary to pull the trigger. Would God not have compassion to someone in that condition?

There’s only one unforgivable sin and that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit so I believe the blood of Jesus covers them and they go to heaven

Being suicidal cannot be a sin because neither temptation nor emotional or mental issues are sins. Satan even tempted Jesus to commit suicide. So, “being suicidal” means having suicidal thoughts or suicidal wishes, which are themselves two very different things.
Different from all of that is the suicidal attempt, the act of suicide. This is most definitely sin. Also though, Jesus has died on the cross for all sins, past, present and future. Most all Christians, like everyone else, die as a surprise, unplanned. They have little to no time to make their peace with God. So, sins are often not specifically confessed, more to the point, most of us don’t even understand all our sins to confess them before death. Almost all Christians will die with unconfessed sins. They will still go to Heaven. Repentance is both a daily thing and a decision to turn from sin at the moment if salvation (the most important one), but justification happens to us as something God does. He has clothed us in His righteousness and we don’t deserve it. When God looks down, He sees we are covered by the blood. Whatever unconfessed sins in our condition are also covered. They must be, or there would be about seven to ten nearly perfect people in Heaven. But doctrinally, the blood spilled at the cross of Christ is COMPLETELY sufficient for all sins. There is no such thing as a mortal sin. The Catholics falsely invented mortal sins and listed one as suicide. Many Christians, even Protestants, have adopted this false belief. There are no mortal sins. That’s heresy. It’s also heresy to think if you have an unconfessed sin, that that will send you to Hell. Don’t put ANY limitations on the power of the blood of Jesus Christ. He is our eternal sacrifice and that sacrifice covers ALL our sins ETERNALLY. Suicide is a sin but you will go to Heaven or Hell based on the reality of your salvation in Christ. -
My point is, only God knows our full circumstances and God is our judge. He will judge fairly, we can only assume what His judgment will be. A believer in Messiah may face rape or a traumatic experience that leads to suicide. Does that mean they’ll go to Hell? I don’t know, but I don’t think so. I’ve suffered from depression on and off and God always pulls me through. I would never commit suicide, but I haven’t always been able to say that confidently. God has been building peace inside me through the Holy Spirit, peace I never used to have, but that doesn’t mean the spirit of depression doesn’t try to grab me at times

I feel that anyone who commits suicide wasn’t saved to begin with. They didn’t trust in God and allowed the demons to win. They didn’t care of how those left behind would feel. They only cared about their feelings. I personally just do not think any Christian could go through with it. Regardless of how bad their life is.

Once Saved Always Saved. You did nothing to get saved. So you doing something cannot take your salvation away. JESUS DID IT ALL. Suicide is just another sin that JESUS died for and forgave..assuming that person was truly SAVED.

I don’t believe that you go to hell because of one posture of sin at one point in your life. I don’t see how this is any different than if I was a Christian who was sinning by selfishly yelling at my husband on a car ride and we got into a crash and died. Any of us could die during a moment of sin at any time. I don’t view suicide any differently.

If a person is truly saved, even suicide cannot separate him from “the love of Christ”. Once saved, always saved. Romans 8, John 1:12, 10:28 et al. There’s no Big sin and small sin with God.

Suicidal people usually have serious mental health issues – depression being the obvious one. I note also with shame that our homosexual brothers and sisters, regarded by many here as second class citizens,are over-represented in the statistics.

Our soul is in our own keeping. No matter how many people defines life or death, only you and your God knows of your life. But surely, if you take matters in your own hand to opt out of life at your own will, well then your prayer Thy Will Be Done… is just a noise. Bad decision, but in desperation, very possible

I think we’re in dicey territory when start saying with any confidence who or what will or will not go to hell or heaven. There’s so many factors with any behavior and we’re not in a position to judge anything definitively. God is ultimately the judge, and all we need to do is be on the lookout for the signs of suicide in those closest to us, intervene if we notice them, and pray for the victims of suicide (including those left behind).

Suicide is murder. Whether or not a suicidal person is forgiven would be God’s decision, not mine.

The best way that can be answered is God will Judge all in His way, not ours.
I would hope and pray that a person who is suffering so much on earth decides to take his or her own life is given some comfort and peace when their life is over.
But again, this is God’s judgement. Not mine. -
People go to hell only depending on their relationship with Jesus Christ not on the sin they committed. If they repented of sin and turned to Christ and they should reflect a life changed by Jesus Christ. That doesn’t change the circumstances you live in and some live in situations that are beyond their control. If they end up taking their live yes they are still a Christian and will see heaven and Jesus Christ even though they ended up going that way in sin. I would be careful judging one that did such an act even though not always understanding why!

What if a Christian looks lustfully upon another woman then suddenly dies from a heart attack? Is he going to hell because he didn’t have time to repent? So many logical fallacies in the statement that suicide is unforgivable. The real theological issue is if a persons past, present, and future sins are forgiven the moment someone believes. To say otherwise is unscriptural and also a logical fallacy.

Only God knows the heart of the person who no longer wants to be here. God, being the One who knows hearts, makes a determination on whether a person is running toward Him or away from Him, based ultimately on His Grace.

This isn’t a subject that is easy to flesh out. On one hand, yes interference with God’s purpose in your life is sin. On the other hand we have to remember that we’re saved by grace alone and none of our works are sufficient to obtain salvation. Are suicidal thoughts evil? Yes, but being suicidal doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doomed because we have to remember grace (not hyper or greasy grace). If said person were to follow through with the suicide that is when were in a bad place with God. But back to grace, at this point God would have given you grace time after time to keep you from following through by conviction by the Spirit and maybe having a loved one check on you. At this point you have denied His grace to follow through with the suicide and take matters into your own hands. At this point there’s no saving you. Another thing to address, heaven and hell. Yes these are real afterlife places but nowhere in Scripture says that the goal is heaven none of the apostles went around enticing people to get to heaven or threatening people to go to hell (though judgement was preached it was not the selling point). The gospel is to establish the Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven. So back to the suicide, if you look at it through a lense of something relevant to you now and walk in the freedom and love that Christ commanded us to now. Suicide is seen as something not just will put you in an eternal place of torment but you’re literally putting the image and likeness of God to shame by dying by your own hands. We need to look at it as “will this honor God?” Instead of “will this send me to hell?”. Sorry for the length but like I said this is a loaded question

Murderers went to heaven adulters. The thief on Jesus right side on his cross went to heaven. Suicide is not singled out as a sin to be rejected its faith in salvation promises that gets you to heaven and it’s the same criteria that will keep you out.

Suicide is a sin. Suicide is a murder of someone created in God’s image.
Like any other sin, suicide without salvation results in hell.
Like any other sin, if one commits suicide yet has salvation, they will go to heaven.
Like any other sin, suicide is repulsive to God, and will gravely affect your spiritual rewards for eternity.

I know the bible says that they go to Hell and God says that he will never give us something we can’t handle but I really don’t think that they do. I think God is a kinder God than to put someone in Hell who is looking for a way out of their current situation.

No one has the authority to take ones life especially your own that is considered murder. If you are born again filled with the Holy Spirit you would not murder yourself knowing that the final act will cause you to end up in hell. So if you know of anyone contemplating suicide please get them help through Jesus the only saving name.

My Dad committed suicide when I was 3 weeks old, never laid eyes in me.
Only YAH/GOD knows the heart of as man. Yeshua has the final Judgement, not you are I. There are circumstances unknown to us. -
Can we say that Sampson committed suicide? He was also forgiven because God restored his supernatural power.

Real world scenario, not made up. A Marine who is also saved is deployed to Iraq and returns, but not the same way he deployed. There are traumas that go with war that cannot be shaken once we (military) get home and we have to live with those traumas. Yes, some deal with these traumas better than others and we (veterans) all have days where some are better than others. That said, on the bad days what about the guy/girl who has been surrounded by so much darkness for such a long time that they can’t even see straight? Someone who sees a 9mm, 45 caliper, razor blade or rope (among other things) as not only the only way out, but (believe it or not) the most compassionate way out. I completely understand why some people believe that someone who attempts/succeeds in suicide is a coward or just a sick person. There’s a ton of true to the latter, but not the former. It takes a ton of balls to just make the plans for suicide, much less carry them out. Now, I’m NOT saying that suicide is to be hailed as something great because it’s not, but those who try and/or succeed don’t do this simply because they didn’t get that last round on Friday night before last call was called. These people have deeper and darker issues than that and many have come from their childhood or traumas later in life or both. God helps those in this position, but I don’t think we (believers) do ANYONE in the community of those who are completely compromised from thinking rationally through no fault of their own, by categorizing them as coward (I did not read that on here, but I’ve heard it in past debates) or anything like that. JMHO.

I’ve lost brothers and sisters in arms to suicide after we got home and those people are FAR from cowards. When someone puts a gun to their head and they’ve been drinking so much thus allowing them to compromise instincts of survival, that’s not a coward, that’s someone who’s surrounded by darkness that needs someone. If you call them or want to call them a coward, that’s on you, but it takes a sick person to call that same person a coward.

Vince Ebo a popular gospel singer commited suicide about 30 years ago. The answer is this:. Eternity for the Christian starts now. Once you are saved you are always saved. You can’t loose your salvation because we are saved by grace through faith not by workd (Ephesians 2:8& 9.). Our salvation is based on our faith not by our works. Do no work can keep us from being saved. Once you are born of God meaning saved, you can not even die after that point. All you can do is sleep.
