I’d say it is whatever is needed at the time.

The fact that we even have a concept of something being according to reason. Without God there is no truth or error, no bad or good, no right or wrong.

For me I would have no idea who jesus really was. Never read the bible. Ironically raised catholic. Happened to meet 2 little old ladies who explained the gospel to me and asked me if I would pray after them. I had never heard anyone pray off the cuff before. I knew the rosary and the Our Father and a few rote prayers that you may hear on sunday. But I had NEVER heard anyone pray from their heart before. I was a bit intrigued. And they quoted the bible in their prayer. I had no idea anyone could even memorize bible verses as I didnt know the bible was actually supposed to be read. In Catholicism the church says they are supposed to teach you what’s in the bible. But they dont. Having no idea what they were doing. They tricked me into saying a sinners prayer. They prayed a bit first and then they had me pray after them. And the moment they were done i felt something different inside me. From that day forward things happened in my life that could only be gods leading. I didnt even know i was born again or what. I picked up the bible and it came alive to me. The bible educated me. I saw myself in there and everything started to fall in place. I learned that I was born again and saved. I felt alone as if I was the only one who felt this way. I realized I became a christian. A true christian. Not one in name only like i referred to before. I didnt know any other Christian’s who could say they knew they were going to heaven. I couldn’t even attend mass anymore as the spirit inside of me was uncomfortable being there. I would look around and think Jesus is a living God, and these people look like they were herded in here against their will and just going through the motions. I looked at the priest who also looked bored doing the same exact mass 2 or 3 times on a sunday and every day during the week. The liturgy I felt was dead. I would look around to see people counting the number of stained glass window panels. Lots of yawning. They looked like they didnt want to be there but obligated to for fear of hell. Only going through the motions. On knees. Up. Sit. Knees up sit. The mass was dead to me. These people all looked spiritually dead. I could see through new eyes and the RCC now made me feel nauseous and have to leave during the service to get fresh air. I tried to keep going as that was the only church I knew. We were taught that protestant churches were not of God. Well God through his circumstances led me to a protestant church he wanted me to go to and I havent looked back. I feel so sorry for people deceived by the RCC church who will not understand this freedom in christ and the release of the chains of bondage i had. Short of them opening their hearts to the living God and putting down their pride of being RCC members.

i like the contingency argument, but the resurrection alone is the best for me. why? it proves God, and at the same time, proving the identity of God, the Triune Judeo-Christian God, Yahweh.

Resurrection and miracles are not good evidence. They’re claims. They’re really not evidence at all.

Categories are subjective but the logic of infinite regression is a fallacy and if atheism is a fallacy of that logic, god exists by default. The light is either on or off, there is no middle position…..Zeno’s paradox…

My favourite argument would be the argument from motion, without any shadow of a doubt. But I think all of the five ways, as well as arguments such as the argument from composition, argument from sufficient reason, and the argument from abstracts and universals are all really amazing demonstrations of the existence of God.
Great books to read on the subject would be; “five proofs of the existence of god”, “Aquinas”, and “Scholastic Metaphysics”, all by Edward Feser. Highly recommend all of them.

What a silly question, Caleb. Developing a case on any issue is not a matter of picking a favorite argument. The strength of a case emerges from developing a series of arguments–whether pro or con. One might ask which arguments are most persuasive to this or that audience, but aside from determining which arguments to use in a particular situation and in which order to present them, even that question could be misleading. What one likes is by no means correlated to an argument’s logical force or persuasiveness in a particular situation.
Your lack of understanding in this regard is revealed by your dismissal of Aquinas’ three ways as “variations on the cosmological argument.” An expert on Aquinas, Dr. Peter Kreft, would disagree with you.

According to Romans 1, the creation demonstrates the existence of God to all men. The Resurrection is there grounding for the truth of Christianity in particular based on 1 Corinthians 15:12-19.

I don’t know why we have 4 or 5 different slots on the poll all saying prophecy and/or scripture. One slot is good, the others are just redundent

Intelligent design is the best argument for God’s existence, but the resurrection and the proofs that the disciples died for what they saw is the best evidence that the God of the Bible is the Creator God.

God reveals himself in His creation… Is the best evidence. He tells us He’s revealed in things unseen and how things are made. It’s taken up to the last 100 years or so for us to even develop the technology and knowledge to begin to know what He’s talking about. He’s told us things thousands of years ago that we could not have possibly known before Albert Einstein, telescopes, and microscopes. So the best evidence is His word.

JESUS CHRIST is the BEST argument for God’s existence! Jesus said “If you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen The Father.” The great Apologist, John Lennox, got the Hyper-Atheist, Richard Dawkins – to ADMIT, on camera in a debate (you can watch on YouTube) – that Jesus of Nazareth, was a REAL person and not a Myth, as acknowledged by many Professors of History at Cambridge & Oxford, where Lennox is on the Faculty. Jesus also acknowledged all the characters of the Hebrew Bible, as actual Historical people – Adam & Eve, Moses, Noah, Jonah, Abraham, Elijah, etc. He also claimed that He was the I AM (God), came down from Heaven, existed BEFORE, Abraham, accepted worship, raised people from the dead, forgave sins and people attempted to stone Him – because as they said, He “claimed to be God.” As C.S. Lewis said, “A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic—on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg—or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse.”

You guys are terrible apologists. No one gets convinced because YOU are convinced. They need to hear WHY you believe what you believe.

Lol the beauty of arguing Gods existence is that there is SO much evidence over many different fields of study… that seems to me to be the best argument ?
