CHRISTIAN DRESSING

Deuteronomy 22:5,11-12
[5]The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.
[11]Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together.
[12]Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.

The scriptures do not specify uniforms to designate who we are but teach a standard and that standard teaches us not to dress so as to be like the world, but to dress as becometh children of God – not in an extreme man or style, but rather a conservative way.

Paused: The purpose of Christian dressing is to cover nakedness, appropriately, decently, neatly, modestly, moderately, completely and economically.

Christians are not only identified by their conduct and conversation but also by their outward appearance. (1 Peter 3: 1-5)

Our personal appearance either as men or women should not be offensive or repulsive. While being modest in dressing, we should be neat, decent and presentable.

Fashions that borders on immodesty are not only tempting and sinful, they are evidences that such Christian love the praise of men.

We tempt others and ourselves to pride and folly and folly and worldly spirit when we seek to follow such fashions.

The hair style of men should be well-groomed and cut short for long hair is unbecoming to Christian men (1 Corinthians 11:14)

Beards are not necessary for our appearance. Jewelry is also unnecessary and improper (1 Timothy 2:9)

Women skirts and dresses must be well below the knees, so that knees are even well covered at sitting position.

Slacks, jeans, shorts, trousers, sleeveless dresses, low neck lines, immodestly tight-fitting garments, transparent garments etc. are not proper for women.

Extreme methods are used in the dressing of the hair that are sponsored by pride in the heart.
