Let’s draw a distinction between preaching God’s Word and being the head of leadership in a church as the Head Pastor, etc. I would argue that the Bible 100% does not state that a woman cannot teach, preach or share the truth of God’s Word. We are all called to spread the beautiful truth and power of the Gospel and Scripture. As for the other part of the question, can women lead a church, of course they “can”, meaning they are capable. The questions is whether they should… In other words, does God have an opinion on who He wants to shoulder that responsibility. Who has He called to bear that burden. Again, being in biblical leadership calls for higher accountability and danger of judgment. If you are a leader, you have the influence and power to affect other people’s lives. God takes that very, very seriously. I would argue that God chose 12 disciples/apostles and they were all men. Not because they are better, that was simply His choice and design. Why? I don’t know, ask God. Read Genesis, who did Gos curse with working the fields, by the sweat of his brow? Men, not women. Who did He curse with pain in child-bearing, women, not men. We have our roles, our burdens and responsibilities. Men are not better than women, same goes for women. Again, God set the roles and responsibilities, not man… This is my humble opinion from what I see in Scripture…

A woman is not called to pastor. Evangelizing the gospel and ministering to women are the models that the Lord gives in his word.
From a personal experience, every single instance where I have witnessed female pastors, there have been a lot of heretical teachings, sexual immorality, and high strangeness going on in those assemblies. It’s like an inversion of roles. I think this is because it goes against God’s order, which never changes. This is not a matter of capability, but a matter of the Lord’s established order. There might be some really functional female pastors, preaching doctrinal and theologically sound messages, but it still does not negate the Lord’s order (this has nothing to do with legalism either).

Women have the exact same Holy Spirit as men. Yes, of course, women can have ALL of the anointing and gifts from God. Read the spiritual gifts, the great commission, the verses about hearing God’s voice. Those supernatural gifts are not gender specific. I would suggest reading the original text rather than a translation that has been slanted to fit a male-dominated agenda.

God cares for women as much as He does men. Yes, women are as significant to the home, church, and society as men are. In Christ, women enjoy equality inspiritual position and blessings before God as men do. This does not mean, though, that there is to be no difference in men and women in their appearance and responsibilities. There is the reality which needs to be obvious in the church and society today: Men and women were obviously created by God differently!KNOWING HER RIGHTFUL POSITION
Men and women were created for different roles. The Bible affirms that men are to be the leaders in the home, church, and state. Women were not created to rule these divine institutions; men were. Even the five-fold ministry of Ephesians 4:11 was so designed in the Scriptures for men, and not for women. In the beginning, man and woman were co-equal in their position before God. But when Eve fell in transgression when she listened to the serpent, the covenant was changed. The woman was now to be under subjection unto the man as evident in the succeeding scriptures:

AN ISSUE OF USURPATION OF AUTHORITY
In the church, according to the Bible, no woman is qualified to be a pastor or a deacon or in any other leadership position over men. Who says that? God Himself said it through His New Testament mouthpiece, the Apostle Paul.
1 Timothy 2:11-15 clearly states: ”Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. Women can only become pastors if churches willfully and openly reject the Bible’s teaching. Unfortunately, churches today, even the Pentecostals, are often infected by worldly temperament. Thus, the rebellion of women in the world is provoking similar problems in the churches, and we find women desiring and demanding leadership roles in many churches.God is a man, and the church is a woman. If you believe the Bible, the answer is a solid NO!The Bible speaks very obvious on this subject leaving no room for speculation and confusion, or even, debate. The problem is that churches today too often are looking to sources other than the Bible to justify their vain convictions. The result is an intoxication of ideas that reject the authority of Scripture.
Though women may serve in the church in various capacities as long as those capacities do not violate the principles of authority and order and male leadership, then that is all right. Women may be in spiritual authority over other women and children but not over men.
I do not negate the fact that there are many women that have great abilities. But it is important to remember that this issue has nothing to do with worth or ability. It has everything to do with order and authority. God has placed the family unit, and the very Church Itself, in proper order. 1 Corinthians 14:40 states, “Let all things be done decently and in order.”

It is clear that God also put men in charge of His Church. God has established his authority structure and has clearly place men in leadership over women.

Question: In preaching God’s Word, are interpretations that differ from orthodoxy to be tolerated? Since those established doctrines were established by the Church, does it matter which gender repeats them?
In seminary, I was challenged to defend women in preaching the Word. Using all the hermeneutical tools I had been taught, it was easy to see God’s direction in this matter rather than just accepting what the conservative church was teaching. Knowing and applying Hebrew brought clarity!

All believers are commanded to preach the gospel and make disciples. Period. (Matt. 28:19-20). Now, 1 Timothy 2:11-12 says that women are not to TEACH or exercise AUTHORITY over men. This entails pastoring, discipling, and leading MEN in any way. A woman can preach (not teach) the gospel to a man and introduce him to a brother in Christ to that will disciple (teach/lead/walk with) him through scripture.

There is a reason behind that 1 Timothy passage. We all should see what is happening to current culture where feminist, believe all women and the Metoo movement are given priority over other group. These women will falsely accuse other and claim themselves as victim when no evidence is given. At the end they take advantage of others without any consequences. Here is a recent news where Law Professor got his life destroy when his ex-lover accuse him of rape. He was put in jail for 3 years. Imagine if women allow to lead and would use the same logic against the entire Church congregation. Women may preach to / disciple / rebuke women and children (boy or girl) but not men nor be a congregational head. We can encourage the men of God but as the scriptures say, we cannot take the position of leadership/have authority over a man. God has a specific plan which is why all priests and leaders in the OT & NT are men. Women played a very important part in supporting and funding the movement of God and Jesus showed us especially with the Samaritan woman, the adulterous woman, and with Mary and servants being the first to see Jesus after his resurrection that women are equal to men in God’s eyes as they both are sinners and need God but from the very beginning God has chosen man to lead. If the Bible has commanded all disciples to preach the gospel and to teach others to obey the commands of God then that includes women too. This is why Women’s Ministry is important. You need someone relatable to help you with the very essence of how to be a woman of God through experience not suggestion. ?

Depends what you mean by preaching. Can they be an elder or pastor a church? No. They are not to hold spiritual authority over men. Can they share the good news of the Gospel with others? Absolutely.

A woman cannot hold authority over a man. Part of preaching is rebuking and exhortation. A Pastor is the head of the church, leader, shepherd, protector of the flock. None of these roles are what women are created to do. In other contexts, it’s different.

When God made a woman, He made her from a rib, not a toe. This means she’s equal in status to a man, not inferior. For Jesus to treat a woman as an equal and to elevate their testimony equal to a man’s just reinforces OT references.

To answer questions raised. Personally I believe it’s dangerous when someone raises a concern in scripture and we don’t take time to look into it or study to see whether the matter is true. At first I didn’t understand the aspect of male headship and that women leading as pastors but I was more concerned if I was actually wrong and not honouring God in His word. I don’t think anyone wants to be any of the fools in proverbs who doesn’t listen to instructions and warnings. I think the best thing to do is ask these questions, look for sound teachings from friends who are of sound doctrine, ask God to help you understand whether that is true and pray that we may not be found with unbelieving hearts and that we may all be convicted by the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth. And if we do find that whatever said is not true, we should correct but base it on scripture not what you think or feel. The word of the Lord stands forever but our emotions are faulty and deceitful, argue with scripture and seek to know more. It would be better to please God and walk right and true in His word, than please men and our selfish ambitions to be right.

If you want to take scripture out of context and ignore key words to help you understand passages then no they can’t, but if you want to take scripture in context and pay attention to keywords then yes they can.

Interesting and I find the 1 word responses of “no” to be interesting as well. Paul himself entrusted Phoebe with the gospel to the point of telling the Roman church (I believe it was) to not only accept her, but to do whatever she asks. Romans 16:1 and 2. Priscilla and Aquila are mentioned in the very next verse, verse 3. There’s not enough information provided to know if they were only messengers, but there’s more than enough information to conclude that God trusted them with the gospel.

The simple 1 word answers are PERCEIVED to me to be pulpit answers, but not based on the truth at this information can be considered to be at LEAST a possibility. Some will quote the fact that Paul also said that “women are to be silent”, but based on my limited and humble research of this passage, it was stated in response to the fact that women were so inquisitive (had many questions) that they actually started interrupting sermons to ask their questions, which actually distracted others from learning. THUS, the response that women should be silent. Again, JMHO.

Remember that the point of Paul’s letters were to answer particular questions coming out of specific churches. Corinth had different problems than did Galatia. Also, the letters were passed around so that the other churches could get guidance for similar/future problems.

This is something I have struggled with understanding and I am not above submitting to men in authority or my husband as the spiritual head of my household so long as they are submitted to Christ. But I find it hard to believe God would give the anointing He gives to many women and expect them to “shut up.” We are all instructed as believers to go forth and share the Good News and make disciples. This Scripture from Acts tells us that He will pour out His Spirit on us all, man and woman alike. And where the Spirit leads, we should follow.

The scripture in 2nd Timothy must be unpackaged and the culture must be didiscussed.The passage in 2nd Timothy is written this way because woman in their time where unlearned and they were interrupting the worship experience. they were interrupting to worship experience to ask questions because they didn’t understand what was happening. So the Apostle Paul permitted woman from speaking. The authority that is reference is the authority in the home. This passage has nothing to do with preaching. If woman can’t preach or Pastor why is God going to pour out his spirit on all person who believe.

Every Christian should preach the gospel, but I think you referring to women exercising authority over men in the church as noted in 1 Cor 14:34-35 and 1 Tim 2:13-14.
Why did Jesus come as a male and choose 12 males as His closest disciples? Why did Paul note that God created Adam first and thus men should lead in the church(1 Tim 2:11-14; cf. 3:1-13)?

There are many verses about woman not preaching, and verses where woman did speak, or will speak in the future to edify the body of Christ. Verses where woman are to be silent and not preach, and visa versa are: 1 Timothy 2:12, 1 Corinthians 14:34, Titus 2:1-15 Acts 2:17, Titus 2:4, Romans 16: 1-2, Philippians 4:2-3 cover a broad range of the woman’s role in her speaking, teaching and preaching capacities. There are number of errors in the manner people handle the book of Timothy and Titus. let me state few points that may help in handling the book correctly. 1. The Book was addressed to an individual and not churches. 2. This individual was dealing with problems that were taking place in the church of Ephesus. 3. The problems in Ephesus did not exist in other churches like Jerusalem, Rome etc 4. The problems of Ephesus are well articulated in Chapter 1 of Timothy and they include unruly women. 5. If you study the culture of Ephesus it was practicing worship of idols and the famous one being Diana 6. The priest who used to lead in Diana’s temple were women. 7. Many of those women had joined the Christian and bringing their culture, of controlling men, teaching doctrines that were not based on Christ and many other things. 9. Now Timothy was tasked with dealing with the false teachings of wrong doctrine and women in leadership position who had not received the proper Christ’s doctrine, and because of their role in Diana’s temple – they were also dictating in their homes not honoring their husbands. So Timothy had to fix the problems which are not found in other churches. Thus the reason the letter was not sent to Jerusalem, Galatia, Crete, Rome etc etc
